New Alka Restaurant — Restaurant in Gujarat

New Alka is a great affordable restaurant to have South Indian and North Indian food in Vadodara. The fatehgunj branch is the best one among the Alka chain restaurants. I personally like their Punjabi dishes the most. The cheese paneer masala was so good, it had cubes of cheese in it which melted so easily in my mouth and it had a perfect balance of spices. The Masala Papad was crispy and nice. Buttermilk was cool and soothing. Then the mango shake with ice cream was really delicious. The servers don't bother you much but are always a signal away. They have both AC as well as non ac seatings. The only thing I didn't like was that they charge you more if you dine in the AC hall. But still this is a must visit place...

My childhood memories wala restaurant. I have been a customer of Alka Restaurant since childhood. There are 4 branches...But Alkapuri and Fatehgunj once are worth visiting. Their Hyderabadi Biryani is Awesome. It is a family restaurant, atmosphere is like that of A Udupi restaurant....prefer the AC side of the restaurant for a good comfortable ambience. Pricing for AC is on the higher side.

Food is good as per pricing. Certainly it is not a Fine Dine Restaurant, but a good one for occasional dinners.

Ordered Sweet Malai Kofta, Naan and Veg Handi Biryani.

Review: Sweet Malai Kofta - Pathetic Sabzi. Kofta was hard and gravy was tasteless. It was bland with no blend of masala. I guess you guys should really work on your recipes before you say it is your Bestseller item. I would not even give 1 star.. I think for me it will be in minus.

Naan - simple Naan, it was okay not that bad but not good too. I will not order Naan from alka again.
