My recent visit to Novel Chef Café was, unfortunately, a disappointing experience overall. While they serve a variety of Indian dishes and snacs like pizzas, pastas, and nachos, the inconsistencies in both the food and service left much to be desired.
Starting with the food:
• creole Pasta: This was the one redeeming dish of the night—creamy and flavorful, definitely the best thing we tried. • Loaded Nachos: These were decent but not extraordinary. They were generously topped but nothing special. • Pizza: One of our pizzas arrived with a burnt base, which really ruined the experience for that dish. • Fondue: Very mediocre. The cheese lacked depth and the dipping options were limited and unexciting.
Unfortunately, the service was what really ruined the night. I had booked a table for 6 people, but due to unforeseen circumstances, 2 extra guests joined us. Instead of being accommodating, the manager was outright rude. Despite offering to pay separately for the additional guests, she refused to let us join the tables, insisting that 2 people sit away from the rest of the group. Her attitude was inflexible and dismissive, which left a bad taste before we even started the meal.
Another frustrating surprise was the lack of board games on weekends. One of the reasons I chose Novel Chef was because they are known for having board games, but apparently, they don’t offer them on weekends—a fact that is not mentioned anywhere beforehand. This was a big disappointment since we were expecting to enjoy some games with our meal.
All in all, the combination of burnt pizza, rude management, and missing board games overshadowed what could have been a decent dining experience. While the pasta was good,it’s not enough to make up for the...
Read moreRecently visited this cafe for dinner. Located at gulbai char rasta in same building where Yash GBT is present. Tough competitor I must say!! They have so unique concept to have board games , Novels , sketchers and pads to draw and express your art desire. Very well organized shelfs of such amazing things to make you remember your older days and force to you re-live the moments while you wait for your food to be served. Very Nobal Cause!! Ideal place for friends , families and couples as well.. You can also give your shot to check mate your partners. Coming to food all the items we have ordered are basically predetermined and buzzing all time. Loaded Nachos - I can say USP of this place as they serve it like one big road in dish and all are hanged on it and that too multi colouted. Must have dish to try here. Pavbhaji Platter - Uniqueness of this dish is size of Pav. We are used to of normal bun pav served everywhere with bhaji. But here they have small buttons like buns which is enough for you to have in 1 bite. Taste so good with buttery bhaji. Pavbhaji lovers will definitely find this as standout dish. Mexican Hotpot - It was taste as normal as it served everywhere. Only I like the concept of bread stick with it to add some crunchiness. Cold coffee - Show stopper of House!! Very yummy. Sneakers Shake - As always sneakers are hijacking the party.. No surprises here... So overall well diversed menu to order different items as per your choices and tatse buds. Only 1 thing I want to mention is quantity of food can be improved as per prices point. Try to focus on it.
I will definitely recommend everyone to visit with your loved ones and enjoy the weekend with delicious food and nostalgic memories...
Read moreI've been here for quite a few times already. And every single time the food turned out to be 'AMAZEBALLS'.
While I absolutely love the place and the food, they can really do better with their service. It's VERY slow. So expect your order to come after a while. Meanwhile enjoy the books/ or games or whatever fancies you from their shelf.
I have tried their •Coffees- skip if you are into strong or black coffees • Jasmine tea- am not a fancy tea person, so I can't really comment but worth a try once?! •Mocktails- must try. •Bagels - highly recommended. (Afterall, they bake their own bread) •Italian pop pastry- not a fan of the taste. •Cheese garlic Hasselbread- again, recommended • Pizza- try. ( we actually tried a Children's friendly platter or something along the line from the special menu, which included two types of pizzas and fries)
The place is kinda VIBE. It has something for everyone. The games and books and cosy nooks, but it can get real cumbersome if the table next to you is occupied too. Cause it's a very small place for the number of tables they have arranged. But FOOD makes up for it all. The wait is...
