Southak serves authentic south indian & also serves south indian fusion food. The staff here from the guard to the manager will welcome you with a smile on their face. Ambience compliments the cuisine they serve. They tried to make this place as eco friendly as possible.
Talking about food, we tried, Paniyaram which was served with two types of chutneys. This was a perfect appetizer for us. Idli manchurian - Idli with a Chinese twist, is what we personally loved a lot.
In dosa section, we tried, Podi ghee roast dosa. Out of all the dosas, we loved this the most and would highly recommended it.
Mysore onion dosa which had caramelized onions on it and is worth trying.
We also tried 3 types of rasam, Garlic Pineapple. Mango. These three sound unusual but tasted so good. The hint of mango in rasam took it to another level. In cold weather, garlic rasam is something we would go for.
We tried, Kokam mojito and Lemon mojito both were refreshing.
In desserts, we didn't want to go for Indian dessert so we tried, Mango cheesecake which gave a very happy ending to our amazing evening.
Some of the dishes are served on banana leaves which is a traditional way to serve a south indian dish. For mocktails, they use paper straws. This way, they have tried to eliminate use of plastic and that's...
Read moreThis is my honest review for the SOUTHAK. If you are craving South Indian food, please donât try it. The food is Fusion/South India creation, where the presentation is well put together with good service & ambience. We were two people & between us we order 6 items to try, out of that some were simple items like Plain Dosa, Rice with Rasam, Paniyaram, Idli Manchurian, Roasted Garlic Rasam, Podi Ghee Roast. In which, best dishes were the Roasted Garlic Rasam & Rice with Rasam. As rest of the dishes were not even up to the standard of the cuisine. The condiment for the Dosa, like Sambhar & Chutneyâs were tasteless. Especially Sambhar, after 1st serving you will not even bother to ask again for 2nd serv due to taste. Podi Ghee Roast, if you like burnt crispy taste, then go for it otherwise donât have it. (Side note- Server did ask to replace, but we were done with it almostâŚwhich was nice of him to ask us to replace it) Idli Manchurian, it looked great & taste was okay, but due to sweetness in the sauces used it wasnât our favorite dish. Plain Dosa, oily & waste of money, please order something else. Paniyaram, it tasted similar to Maduwada but divided in to 6pc, noting special about it. OverallâŚ..great place to go to sit and have basic food or snacksâŚ. But again if you are craving South Indian foodâŚ.Please try...
Read moreI have been to the other Southak at Chhani and wasn't happy the first time. Then it improved. Hoping that this one would be different, we went here. First thing we were told, the unlimited thali doesn't exist. Upon further questioning, it became clear that due to festivities, unlimited thali was suspended until 20th of Nov. Okay, understandable. Next I wanted the tasty Rasam rice, turned out that I could get only the tomato spiced rasam. I asked for the garlic rasam, and the response was, it doesn't come with the garlic rasam... Thing is , they are two different dishes, served together, so why is substitution an issue? Doesn't even cost any different! The prime issue is that the waiters do not make any efforts towards customer's wishes. There is a rigidity that does not fit with the service industry. We did not ask for something off menu, but for a customisation. Customer service is a very important lesson that the Southak team must learn. Hopefully they will learn on their own, before the market forces them to. Disappointed with...
