A Disappointing Experience Masked by Trendy Decor

I recently visited this restaurant after eagerly awaiting a chance to dine there for several months. The first impression was promising: the place has a very hip aesthetic, and the interior and ambience are indeed remarkable. Unfortunately, this initial excitement quickly faded.

While the food was undeniably Instagram-worthy, it fell drastically short in terms of taste. The chicken was dry and chewy, making it quite unpalatable. The Thai curry was another disappointment, being excessively watery with a meager amount of chicken and vegetables. As for the drinks, which were priced at nearly ₹300 per glass, they were little more than colored water with cheap flavored syrups. The Berry Cooler, in particular, was a travesty, containing fake berries made from gelatin.

Considering the exorbitant cost of ₹1700 for two people, the overall quality of the food and drinks was extremely poor. Although the service was decent, I was irritated by the absence of paper menus. The experience of scanning a QR code to view the menu online is something I find incredibly frustrating and detracts from the dining experience.

On a positive note, the washrooms were clean and well-stocked with hand soap and napkins, and the cutlery was satisfactory. However, these minor conveniences do not compensate for the subpar food and overpriced menu.

Eye catching interiors, great outdoor ambience, excellent service and great food.

The House of Makeba at Bhat is very conveniently located right on the service road of Bhat Circle while going towards Agora Mall. The restaurant is on the top floor of the building. Interiors and ambience of the restaurant is quiet refreshing. Interiors are done brilliantly but the main charmer was the outdoor seatings under the open sky. Sounds of water splashing from the water fountain is quite zen like which definitely adds as an amazing ambience.

As you enter you are greeted with a warm smile and the receptionist takes you to your table. You are requested to scan the QR code on the wooden block on the table to access menu options. Staff is very helpful and do follow professionalism.

The food here was also great. We started with Manchow soup and it came with the noodles dipped in the soup. We asked for extra noodles on the side and they were happy to provide them to us. For appetizers we ordered some dumplings with schezwan sauce and they were amazing. For the main course we ordered Alfredo Pasta and it was good as well, however the bread it came with was very hard to chew. The papad and green chutny were great timepass while we wait for our food.

The House of Makeba at Bhat is an excellent place to go if you are looking for a great restaurant with amazing ambience and an phenomenal outdoor experience.
