Located in the hustle bustle of dlf cyber hub, we went on Saturday night without booking and obviously we couldn't get a table, so we settled at tea bar there instead of waiting for an hour We ordered our food n drinks sitting at tea bar. There we observed the making of our kafir cooler. They didn't use the kaffir lime instead they used the leaves to prepare this cooler which gave it a nice fragrance. The decor depicts the Burmese culture and ambience is very cozy. The courtaseous staff offered us a table in 15 minutes and made us comfortable. Table presentation was not up to the mark as they didn't provide knife and chopsticks which are expected from a south East Asian fine dine. Nevertheless I liked the paper napkins with Burmese picture on it! Before serving the starter they serve a plate of 4 dips of interesting flavours[Paprika🌶🌶🌶, BlackBean, Peanut & Tamarind] but none too great!
Then came the food. Pan fried rice dumplings. It was cooked(probably) & served on an appam plate and looked mouth watering yummy. The first bite came as surprise as I did not expect it to be sour but it tasted different and good. It was semi crunchy and perfectly cooked. Next for the main course we order dry khaosuey(noodles) with trio mushroom gravy. We were also served some compliments along with main course [Fried garlic, Fired onions, peanuts, spring onion, chilli flakes and lemon]. Noodles were nothing like anything I had before. My taste buds felt felt like being pampered. The sourness was a bit on the higher side and there was a twist of corn flakes and onion rings in noodle. The Trio mushroom is actually prepared from 4 types of mushrooms: button mushroom, green, red & white fungus probably. Consistency was good but cubes of onions & bell peppers made it presentable. But the taste was really subtle. However it complimented well with the Noodles. And now the desert... They served us the in house avocado ice cream which came on a marble plate with nitrogen smoke. Whoa the presentation really caught everyone's attention. Although it was little inconvenient to have ice cream on a flat leave plate but then it's manageable. Again the ice cream is also a very different flavour and yummy. Not the best I have had but kudos to the original flavour. Deductions - knives and chopsticks weren't offered. No option of non vegetarian food. Pinch on pocket. However, It's expected from a fine fine in a posh location.
Being a tough examiner I would rate this place 3.5 stars. But these 3.5 stars is worth it. Do visit this place as the courteous staff actually guide you in developing a Burmese taste. Shall visit...
Read moreI've meant to visit Burma Burma for weeks as everyone had strongly recommended to try the healthy Burmese food at this outlet. Tables are mostly booked in advance and there are long queues, so try and book ahead. Burma Burma has 2 outlets in Delhi NCR. One in Cyber Hub and another in Saket. We went for lunch at the Cyber Hub outlet on a weekday and were surprised to see that it full. Luckily, we had reserved a table for ourselves. We started with Samuza Hincho soup and Burmese Pepper Soup. I've had soups almost every where in Delhi and Samuza Hincho was the best soup ever. Ever. We had ordered Burmese Blossom and Seabuckthorn Mary for drinks. Both of them were recommended by our waiter and I loved the latter more than the former. Seabuckthorn was a fizzy drink with lime and is served in a beautiful glass. Then, we tried Salads which had lotus stems, mangoes and tea leaves. The salads were fresh and delicious. Tofu mash with parantha and Crunchy Tofu Buns was ordered next. Both of the dishes were extremely nice. The parantha was crispy and well prepared and tasted heavenly with Tofu. I would strongly recommend you order these 2 dishes if you're looking for authentic Burmese food. Lotus stem crisps was ordered as sides while waiting for our main course which comprised of Burma Burma Oh No Khow Sue and Fried Rice with tea leaves along with stir fried vegetables. The vegetables had all the healthy options and was one of the best things to have with fried rice. To end our appetite, we ordered Smokey Avacado and Honey Icecream in traditional Burmese desserts which had the prettiest demonstration and Hazelnut Crunch and Kachin Rain Forest in international desserts. All of the desserts were amazing and would strongly recommend you try Avacado and Honey ice cream. The staff was extremely courteous in helping out what to order and during serving. Prompt service was the best part of Burma Burma. Food was served very nicely by the staff. FYI, the outlet is 100% vegetarian and doesn't have any sort of alcohol on their menu. Burma Burma is the best option for a nice family dinner or lunch with your colleagues. The interior was very well designed as it depicted the Burmese traditions nicely and appropriately. The ambience is very soothing and welcoming but at the same time sparks a curiosity. Right from the menu to the artefacts and wall paintings are intriguing and worth taking a note.
Coming over to good, for drinks we ordered coco bubble tea and Eldragon. And Noodles, sticky rice and steamed buns for the main course.
🌟 Eldragon - A majestic looking drink with dragon fruit blended in coconut water. A very refreshing drink for summers.
🌟 Coco Bubble Tea - The combination of coconut milk with black tea was startling at first but it became very smooth as we became more accustomed to it. The only let down was the tapioca pearls which were not the soft boba we are use to in bubble teas - the ones which pop. I had to return the bubble tea once but as the problem didn’t solve I eventually had to finish it as is.
🌟 Steamed buns with caramelised onions - Although with a simple appearance, the steamed buns were a blast. The exceptionally soft texture with the caramelised onions is a complete package in itself.
🌟 Sticky rice with tangy vegetables - This is sticky rice which has been wrapped in banana leaf and then grilled. The grilling gives you a smoky flavour and tastes delicious with the filling of tangy vegetables. This dish was our favourite among the main course.
🌟 Mohingar - This was stated as the national dish of Burma. It is actually that amazing. There are very thin rice noodles and Burmese samosa along with a coconut milk based curry making the whole dish very palatable and a must-have. They serve it with many garnish options - roasted onion, roasted garlic, spring onion, etc.
The staff is courteous and even though they know a lot about the menu, there were a few misses here and there.
Overall Burma Burma is an absolutely must visit for anyone visiting Cyber Hub. It offers one of a kind menu tasting nothing like tasted before in a very convenient place, and this surely will be a combination difficult to...
