1) Excellent ambience and attention to detail 2) Small Operation with Warm Service 3) My Order a) Bhetki Fish Fry - Seabass with mustard sauce b) Kochupata Chingri - Shrimp cooked in Kochu Saag, mustard and coconut c) Mutton Kosha - Traditional Mutton dish from bengal d) Luchi - Fried Refined flour bread (Puri similar) e) Rice f) Nolan Gur Kheer g) Chenna Poda 4) Bhetki Fish Fry: Nice quality seabass but meat is somewhat sparse, complemented with batter of semolina and assorted spice mix of coriander, chili etc. Complex preparation, but perfected. Mustard Sauce is very strong with mustard, lovely. 5) Kochupata Chingri: The best I have had. The leafy flavour of the curry pairs very well with the prawns and mustard and the coconut creamily ties everything together, well balanced flavours and textures. could have gone more with mustard but I understand 😅 6) Mutton Kosha - Very succulent and bold mutton, a top notch curry, very rare to cook mutton this perfectly. Black pepper, Ginger, Garlic, Allspice, Cinnamon and a tomato onion base. This is exquisite. Could have gone more spice centric, the base seems to slightly overshadow the spice. 7) Nolan Gur Kheer: The palm jaggery clearly comes through. Paired with aromatics and thick full cow's milk. The flavours complement each other nicely. Might not be suitable if you dont like the taste of palm jaggery 8) Chenna Poda: Baked cheese essentially, probably the best item on the menu. The elachi flavour comes through very nicely. Sweetened with normal sugar. Odd choice to choose it over palm jaggery. But still prepared very nice. Nailed the texture. Overall Comments: Sticks to the culture and the palette of bengalis. Should pay a visit to get an authentic, respectful presentation of bengali cuisine. Very happy with the food, might be a bit pricey but worth it. I would definitely visit it again to try odia cuisine.

Yesterday was my birthday, and as a Bengali guy for the first time working in a corporate world, that to in Gurgaon, which is so far from my home, Kolkata, I was missing homely cooked Bengali food here. And 3 days back in Zomato I found this restaurant OriBonng. And I'm glad I found it. Even though I found it there, I still chose to visit the restaurant first hand. Firstly such a beautiful atmosphere, great choice of art decor as well as a mix of mordern and retro soothing bengali music. The restaurant is also thriving with customers during peak hours when I visited. The staff were also courteous and the prices were also justified. I ordered a chingri malai curry (prawn malai curry) and a mutton thali which consisted of bhaat (rice), jhuri jhuri aloo bhaaja (crispy potato fries), moong daal (yellow moong daal), aloo posto (potato preparation with poppy seeds), mutton kosha, tomato chutney and payesh (rice kheer). It was served in classy kaashaar baashon (bronze utensils). When the head lady came to help in serving, I told her to please click some photos for me as it's my birthday. After clicking pics she generously gave me a gift of Bhetki maach fry (Bhetki fish cutlet) for free. It made me so happy. Overall one of the best experience here and I'm looking forward to visit and order more food from here. A well spent birthday. One last suggestion to people reading my review - the total food I recieved along with one extra rice bowl, was a huge quantity even for person with big appetite like me. Either take a starter or one side dish and don't take extra rice. The quantity will be more than enough.

This restaurant is a fusion of Orissa and Bengal. It's colourful murals depict the culture of both states with Rabindranath Tagore and the yellow taxis of Calcutta to dancers from Orissa. One wall is decorated with framed Jamdani sarees owned by the Owner's late mother-in-law and adds vibrant colour to the place. Meals are served on traditional Kansa brass plates, bowls, glasses and cutlery. We had gone to celebrate Jamai Shashti which is a typically Bengali festival where the son-in-law is fed and entertained by the mother-in-law. Oribonng had a special menu for the occasion and it was a meal fit for a King not just the Jamai! The typical Bengali style fish fry was delicious as was the sonar mooger dall, posto bora, jhuri aloo bhaja, green mango chutney and the Aam panna that proved to be a great cooler on a hot summers day. I felt the shukto lacked the bitterness that is a trademark of the dish and the dhokar dalna was a bit hard. But the Mishti doi was very tasty and great to have after such a big meal. The restaurant has nice ambience but is a little dark. It is child friendly and had parking nearby. Great place if you like Bengali food!

Edited after owner's incessant chain of response: Your slanderous comment about "PDA" only goes to further prove your ability to harrass your customers. Why don't you watch your CCTV cameras again just to be sure. Compulsive lying is a disorder ma'am! We had come to your restaurant after reading the good reviews, especially about the welcoming environment, and that is one of the reasons why your attitude was such a shock to me. After your initial attack on my comment, i I actually went ahead and read the bad reviews and got to know that I'm not the only one and that these people aren't lying, nor are these "paid negative reviews" as you call them. It's flabbergasting to think you have attacked me not once but twice after I gave your food a 5 star stellar review. You couldn't take one bit of criticism about your "fine dining restaurant ". Highly disappointing behaviour! What kind of fine dining experience are you talking about; there were flies all over our food which we were swatting with one hand while eating only because the food was so good. When we very politely asked your server if he could do something about it, he said," makhiyon ka hum kya karein." Please stop over selling !!! And please stop lying! I know you'll have a great urge to reply to my comment again but please refrain, if you can, from further ruining your own reputation. This would, however, be my last edit, regardless. Edited after owner's response: The fact that, instead of understanding how you could improve your service you decided to take offence, clearly shows your "courtesy" towards your customers. Real timeline FYR: stepped into the restaurant at 6:50, ordered appetizer and drinks: 7:05, enjoyed the food until 7:30 and asked for the menu for mains. Then instead of "requesting" you decided to be rude and made us uncomfortable. We even addressed this with you in person. After taking your suggestions for mains, since we are new to bengali food and did not understand the menu well, we ordered our dinner and the moment we put our spoons down your server came with, " let me get your bill". With all due respect ma'am, you need to learn what a fine dining experience really is, to first own a restaurant that offers it. If you'd not made us leave with your hostility we would have ordered a lot more, including dessert. Although I loved the food, your attitude towards your customers, which is clearly visible in your attacks to any negative comments in your reviews section, has made me change my rating. Original review:

I visited Oribonng with my friend in the evening to try some Bengali cuisine and was impressed with the food quality. The Fish Kaviraj appetizer, Katla fish, and Dhoker Dalna (suggested by the owner) were all delicious. The ambiance was also very Bengali and welcoming. However, the service was a bit of a letdown. After ordering the appetizer, they rushed us to place our main order. The waiter also pushed us to settle the bill promptly, leaving us no time to even consider dessert. While the food and ambiance were great, the service left much more to be desired. I'd definitely prefer ordering online anyday than the dine...

With all due respect, if you want authentic Odia food, try Odisha Hotel, saket or Odisha Bhawan in NCR. Again with due respect, Oribonng is not authentic Odia food restaurant, at all. Just a fancy restaurant serving odia /bong food. And you’ve to wait for 1hr for having your order on your table. They don’t even give any flying f about your waiting period. Nobody charges this high amount for odia food of this quality. I ordered Mutton curry, rice and a veg odia thali. In odisha people never use such big pieces of mutton, even if you’re using such ‘not so fresh’ mutton, at least make the gravy bit better and thick. Mutton Gravy was more like mutton paya soup. If any non-odia is trying this restaurant thinking it an authentic odia restaurant, please don’t. Believe me, Odia food is much better.

Editing my Review after the owner got triggered by a genuine review. Hearing truth is not everyone’s cup of tea. I won’t get down to such 3rd class theatrics just like Oribonng comment under my review.

Just to clarify, Reg my order time (as claimed by restaurant 32 min)- your own staff came with an apology as the order was delayed for around an hour. You have cctvs as well. One can check that as well.

You guys messed up the order as well and put another item on my table(from which i took a bite unknowingly) as there was already a delay of an hour and I don’t remember all the items on the menu/thalis. Then you guys tried to add that to our bill as well, for your mistake. Lol

Won’t take FC VC Margin accounting from you. You might consider all your establishment cost, wage, rental, your education loan, personal loan , car emis etc while fixing the menu price, but the main thing you missed while doing all this is “Taste”.

Most important- Be humble while addressing to a customer review. Getting triggered unnecessarily...
