Cyber hub in Gurgaon can be considered as the mecca of food lovers. It has managed to be in the top list of most loved place to hang out with your friends. One of the finest places in town to devour wines is in the heart of Cyber Hub going by the name of The Wine Company. Concept of this establishment is unique where the entire idea of wine and dine is taken seriously. The floors are bare and the seating is humble with a wide display of wines standing proudly under the twinkling lights. Wine list here is detailed and longer than anywhere else. The food menu is designed in a way that pairs with wines and enhances the taste altogether. The diners are a happy lot high on wine and good food. For more fulfilling meal pies, burgers and hotdogs with relish is available. Fillet mignon and roasted chicken serve as comfort food on cold nights. Wine based cocktails are on the menu too if you want to drink differently. There are over 150 kinds of wines and spirits to choose from. The prices are reasonable and does not pinch considering the experience one has here.
We also got an opportunity to try out this outlet and we very excitedly cashed upon it. Welcomed to an astounding bar with liquor bottles and wines stacked to perfection which were pleasing to the eyes and giving us a preview of the experience we were about to have. The iconic 'Karari Roti' was served, which was a crispy Roomali Roti similar to papad sprinkled with paprika and butter and goes great with any drink. We started our meal with the famous and Wine and cheese combo which has five variants of cheese and was paired with sparkling wine. The combination definitely tingled our taste buds leaving us wanting for more. We were then greeted with buttered prawns and they were utterly sumptuous. We really loved the presentation of this dish too. We then moved on to bruschetta, where four variants were served, all curated by one of the finest chefs, Chef Mrigank. These were paired with white wine by the name of Baron De Vassal, Bordeaux which seemed a perfect concoction. We then devoured the mutton keema with milk breads (Please refer the outlet for actual name of the dish). The aroma, the texture and the taste of this one just couldn’t get better. We were salivating just by the look of this one. We then ordered the Cheese Fondue where, unlike other, the molten cheese was kept on a base which had candles in it so as to keep the cheese in the molten state only. Paired with a red wine, we went all gaga over this one. We then ordered the Charred Butter Mustard Snapper and this dish was the highlight of the evening. Served with quinoa and diced fruits we had an entire fish in front of us where the chef was careful enough to pull out all the bones and pieces yet keeping the fish intact. We were actually mesmerized by the prima facie look of this one. Ending our meal on a sweet note with cranberry chocolate cake, we were satiated to the core and had a huge grin all over our face owing to the wonderful experience we had here.
We were told that the night life here is a must visit and we might be coming down over there soon to have taste of the night too. All in all, we loved everything, ranging from our welcome to the staff and the food. It was actually a prefect...
Read moreTWC is a classy place which a wine lover cannot miss if he is staying or visiting Delhi NCR. The service, hospitality, table set up, collection of wine and paired delicious dishes, everything is just great here - and another addon if its live performance night!
On my recent visit, I tried the new menu set by masterchef Sarah Todd. Her take on Indian dishes is delectable experiment. Quinoa biryani to duck kulcha, crab pakoda to kashmiri kalari - everything a connoisseur can think of, the fusion is on your plate!
We started with the beautiful cheese platter and amuse bouche : different cheeses, walnuts, grapes and olives with my first wine dry and crisp temalo Chardonnay.
Red wine duck kulcha and goat cheese churros, both of these two are killer dish. Crisp and little spicy churros, served with mayo and red chilli chutney, a killer combo it was. I loved this new version of churros. Duck kulcha with gorgonzola cheese and cranberries went nice also.
Flambe Kashmiri kalari cheese topped with onion and peppers and the madras carried lamb tortellini in butter and coconut milk sauce are another two great innovation by Sarah. I had it with red cherry pinotage red wine. Quinoa edamame biryani with avocado raita , betel leaf tacos and soft shell crab are three more lip smacking discovery by Sarah. Lamb in indian spices served in betel leaf as tacos were one of the best lamb tacos you can have. Crab pakoda is certainly for the seafood lover, loved it with temalo Cabernet Sauvignon.
From dessert, two recommended dishes are : Lamington - coconut and chocolate mousse & s'mores ice cream sandwich served with toasted marshmallows and chocolate mousse. Loved it with sparkling indian wine Chandon delice!
Before leaving Gurgaon for quite some time, wine company was one of my last visit in restaurants of Gurgaon. The ambience and hospitality speaks for itself. Sarah's food paired with nice wine collection is a trip for the memory to cherish forever. Thanks lily and Akash for the...
Read moreWent to The Wine Company on a night on which they had a live band playing. The band was quite good and their music really went well with the overall vibe of the place. The decor of The Wine Company makes it look like an old Jazz bar - very classy and well executed, without going over the top.
We started the night off with a bottle of wine, no surprises here! Followed the glass of wine with The Wine Company Frosé, a delightful little wine smoothie that I enjoyed a lot.
Then came the starters - Crab Pakora, BBQ Chicken and Veg and Chicken Dimsums. The crab pakora was unique - for the lack of a better word. I guess I liked it, although it could have been less oily. The BBQ Chicken was amazing - perfectly cooked, well seasoned and the BBQ sauce was easily one of the best I've had. The dimsums were nice.
For main course, we had Arabiata Pasta, Pad Thai in Holy Basil Sauce with Stir Fried Chicken, Butter Chicken Pastilla with Naan. The Arabiata pasta was average - really nothing special about it. The Butter Chicken Pastilla was good although I have no idea why the server let my friend order a Naan with it - they certainly don't go together. When the Pad Thai in Holy Basil Sauce with Stir Fried arrived, I was a little taken aback to see that the serving was wrapped in an omelet, since I am allergic to eggs and this part was not mentioned anywhere in the menu. I told my server about my allergy and he had no problem taking back my dish and getting me a new one without the egg - so, full points there! The Pad Thai itself, was okay. I don't feel right saying this, but it really felt like the dish had way too much chicken. So much, in fact, that I could hardly taste the flat noodles. If they had skimped on the chicken a little bit, I'm sure it would have been a much better dish.
Overall a very good experience. Great decor, good music, nice food and good service make this a good destination for anyone looking to go to a different kind of a watering hole, especially wine...
