The stopover to Sagar Ratna while our trip to Chandigarh was very refreshing. The place is beautifully done, giving you the Sagar Ratna feel. The food was amazing and the best was the tea. As everyone after a long drive stops to get fresh by having tea, so this place is a suggested one serving probably the best tea with awesome food. This is a very fine AC sitting closed space. The staff was very smiling and receptive. Their Cold Coffee is also worth a try Sagar Ratna started its first branch in Defence Colony in 1986 and since then it has moved on to become the most preferred destination for South Indian cuisines across the country. Within a short span Sagar Ratna has spread its wings far and wide and today with more than 90 restaurants, Sagar Ratna has established its presence in the National Capital Region (NCR) through company owned restaurants and in various prominent cities of North India through franchise outlets. Read moreI have been to many Sagar Ratna restaurants and it’s my first choice during travel. I think this time we had bad luck that we landed here. I have always given 4+ ⭐️ for other outlets but I think this is one of the bad franchises.
I will give my review according to the order that I placed
Ghee Roast Masala Dosa - it was good and crispy however chutneys were very bad. Onion tomato chutney was stale; coconut chutney was watery; green chutney was paste of coriander and without salt or any taste - whereas in all NCR and Karnal Highway outlet you are served green coconut chutney and other chutnies are they speciality.
Mix vegetables uthapam with dahi vada - uthapam and sambar was very good.
Dahi vada was like dahi Bhalla with sweet curd and it was not close to traditional South Indian food.
Laccha paratha - it was good but since mint / green chutney was tasteless so sambar saved me 😂.
Cold drink - it’s from plastic bottles and without fizz.
Overall - few people complain about bad experience with Sagar Ratana so now I can say Yes there are bad outlets as well.
Staff is cold and have no courtesy but argues that in Ambala Chandigarh only mint chutney is served as...
Read moreVery Disappointing Experience – Not the Sagar Ratna We Knew
We have been loyal customers of Sagar Ratna for many years and have always had excellent experiences with the food, staff, and overall service. However, our recent visit to this particular Sagar Ratna location was extremely disappointing and upsetting.
The staff and manager were shockingly rude, disrespectful, and completely unprofessional. It felt as if they had no interest in serving customers or maintaining even basic courtesy. The service was terrible, and the attitude of the staff made us feel completely unwelcome. It's disheartening to see such poor behavior under the name of one of India’s most respected restaurant brands.
This experience is not just a letdown – it’s damaging to the reputation of Sagar Ratna as a whole. If this is how customers are treated now, we cannot in good conscience recommend anyone to visit this location. Sadly, it seems this outlet is demolishing everything that made Sagar...
