This little restaurant in McLeod, Dharamsala turned out to be a delightful find for us, and I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a cozy place with great food. The setting is simple yet charming, with a warm and inviting vibe that instantly makes you feel comfortable. What sets it apart is not only its menu but also the ambiance created by the surroundings. As you sit and enjoy your meal, the soothing sound of a nearby waterfall adds a natural calming touch to the whole experience, making it feel almost therapeutic. When it comes to food, the variety offered really impressed us. The place serves multiple cuisines, but the Tibetan food here is a must-try. We ordered momos and thukpa, and without a doubt, they were among the best we tried during our entire time in McLeod, Dharamsala. The momos were perfectly steamed with flavorful filling, while the thukpa was soul-warming, hearty, and full of authentic taste. For those who enjoy exploring beyond traditional meals, the dessert section is also quite appealing with some delicious options to end your meal on a sweet note. Overall, this spot is not about extravagance, but about comfort, taste, and atmosphere. If you’re looking for good food, particularly authentic Tibetan dishes, and want to enjoy dining along with the natural sounds of flowing water, this little cozy place should definitely be on your list. It captures the essence of McLeod, Dharamsala beautifully—authentic flavors in a...
Read moreIf you’re in McLeodganj, missing out on Chilly Beans would be a crime — and not just for the food. Yes, the food is amazing — I’ve come back here again and again during my stay, which speaks volumes. But the real gem of this place is not on the menu — it’s Prem.
Prem isn’t just a server — he’s the soul of the place. He greets every guest with a smile that feels like sunshine in the mountains. Soft-spoken, hardworking, and one of the most genuine human beings I’ve met on this trip. There’s an innocence in his nature that’s rare to find and a sincerity in his work that deserves applause.
He doesn’t try to impress — and maybe that’s exactly why he does. In every conversation, you feel his warmth. In every interaction, you feel seen and respected. Prem isn’t just doing a job — he’s making people feel at home, one guest at a time.
I truly hope life brings him all the success and happiness he deserves. People like Prem restore your faith in kindness. And he’s the reason Chilly Beans will always be more than just a restaurant to me.
5 stars for the food. 10 stars for Prem. If you’re lucky enough to be served by him — thank him. And don’t forget...
Read moreI have visited Bhagsu 6 times between 2012-2021 and have spent about 18 months in the town. There are a few good restaurants in town, but Chilly Beans is my favourite. I would have eaten at least 100 meals at Chilly Beans over the years, and I have enjoyed every single one of them. Like the whole of Upper Bhagsu, Chilly Beans is a pretty laid back place, but the staff are also friendly and efficient. The large interior is split in half, with one side having standard tables and chairs, while the other has low tables with cushions to sit on. The menu is the most wide ranging in town and covers cuisines from around the world, in full meals and also snacks. Non-veg dishes are available, but those of us who only eat vegan or veg are very well catered for, with great selections of plant based choices that are delicious. I can't wait to get back to Bhagsu and sit down for a meal...
