I did the 10 DAY BUSSHIST AND MEDITATION RETREAT. And im gonna try to answer some of the questions i had before i got there.
FOOD: The food they prepare is really tasty. Unfortunately the breakfast is very unhealthy. I was hoping for simple food luke they advertise on their webside. But there was only super sweet suggery stuff for breakfast. Cinnamon roles and choclate crossaints and honney! If you have diabetes or cant or dont wamt to eat tons of sugar in the morning... there is NO alternative...
SHOWER: They have a boiler so if noone showered before you you have hot water. Some showers have actual shower heads some are just bucket showers. You might wanna check different bathrooms to find what you like.
MONEY: This was the part i found most frustrating. They say online its donation based and they write "recomend donation " but its NOT DONATION BASED. They call it donation but its not. They force you to pay whatever amount they "suggest" you for whatever room they give you. Dear Tushita, Please change that on your webside. Many people were really surprised that they had to pay more than they thought to. It cut a huge whole in my travel plans budget. Im not saying the amount you charge is unreasonable. I just think people should know that its NOT A RECOMMENDED donation. But rather just the Price. So please clearly say price in your website.
COURSE The course it self was very interesting i learned a lot and everyone loved the teacher very much. Only the meditation teacher girl had a super heavy accent and mispronounced a lot of words sometimes you had to guess what shes saying which is very unfortunate if its a guided meditation and it totally ripps you out of your flow if you first have to think about what she is saying.
I'd give 5 stars if it wasnt about the money and the no alternative to...
Read moreA very peaceful place to come visit if you are in the area. You can spend a day wondering around, meditating during their morning guided meditation sessions and enjoy books on Buddhism and Tibetan history and culture in their library that’s open for anyone. You can even rent books to take with you for a few days if you are staying there for a while. Very friendly staff and volunteers who are there for you to help. They have Introduction to Buddhism silent retreat that last for 10 days. An incredible place for a thing like that. I’ve stayed there for that course in July, 2018 during monsoon season and watching those clouds rolling up and down those mountains was meditative on its own! The accommodation isn’t ideal and the group I was a part of was very large (111 people) plus additional course of about 20 people who where taking an intermediate course. But overall it’s a very nice place! Good food! I wish they were selling their peanut butter too, it’s sooo good! The only this is it’s getting not as secluded anymore which is out of their control, due to the popularity of the area and a very high volume of tourists coming. Many bars are opening and I could hear the music in the evenings (during the course you go to bed around 9-10pm with 5am wake up). So I guess that’s different from about 10 years back time. But if you have ear plugs you can solve that...
Read moreTushita Meditation Centre is a serene oasis! Beautifully landscaped gardens where you are free to roam around or spread a mat to reflect, meditate or just chill with a book. Even in the mist of monsoon it had a mystic charm to it. Mind blowing scenes of nature. Apart from landscapes there are Buddhist courses , free walk in meditation in the morning. The wonderfully crafted Buddhist introductory course I attended was truly transformative. Our teacher's wisdom and guidance were invaluable, and the peaceful atmosphere of the centre allowed me to deepen my practice and connect with like-minded individuals. The tranquility of the space is palpable, and I felt my mind and heart heal with each session. Highly recommend Tushita for anyone seeking spiritual growth and inner peace 🙏❤️ Note- 10 day introductory course is not for everyone so please go over the details on the website before enrolling and make up your mind for silence, long meditation sessions, monk food ofcourse which according to me was delicious healthy and...
