I have been to Kasol twice. During my first visit, I was not aware about this place and when I was there the 2nd time I read it in reviews of Hotel Sandhya that how Jim Morrison's path is opposite to Hotel Sandhya. That's how this cafe came to my attention.

It was around 7PM and I decided to go to this beautiful place and that too solo. Before you reach this place, there is a trek for 5-7 mins which was a bit scary as it was getting dark after 7 but I continued walking asking a man on my way if that path leads to the cafe and the answer was positive. I finally reached this place.

You take your shoes Off outside the main door and enter. This place gives you a different solo, happy and carefree vibe. The menu had a lot of options including Israeli Cuisines. After much thought, I ordered Veg-Noodles which was definitely the right choice because I never ate such tasty Veg-Noodles anywhere else.

They also have a curtain on which they play an animated movie which can keep you entertained too.

While paying my bill at the reception, I had a brief jolly conversation with the caretaker of the place and I appreciated their food and how their good Google reviews made me come to this place. He told me this place was his elder brother's dream which he fulfilled and named it after his biggest inspiration Jim Morrison.

The next time I am in Kasol, just assume I am at Jim Morrison one fine evening and your assumption will be...

First of all I would like you to know is this is VEGETARIAN restaurant. I'm a vegetarian but when I reached here with along with one of my friend who is non vegetarian disappointed for a while but later we found out that the food is really great here. I don't write how to reach in every review but here I felt I should write that because I found it difficult to reach here with only use of Google maps

HOW TO REACH? There is a small trail going upwards from opposite of Hotel Sandhya on Manikarnan Rd and after that that way is well marked and gives you a 10-15 mins of trekking experience and it's really worth it. If you are confused te it's best to ask locals they are very helpful and polite.

Ambience! I went here @ afternoon for lunch around 12-12:30 and there wasn't too many people here usually in the evening this café gets crowded and you'll see there are a lot of posters and paintings hanging on the wall. On the entrance there is small garden with few plants and flowers. There no chairs in the cafe and the mattresses are used for sitting just like few other cafe's in Kasol. In the evening you'll see a live performance as well as they show movies on projector on particular time. So evening is best time to visit this cafe.

Food😋 This cafe was founded by an Israeli guy so you can see Israeli cousin here from the menu I loved the Falafel and cheese balls. The quantity is more than enough for...

Amazing place to chill and stay in kasol, if you're into nature and cozy stays then this is the place for you. You would have to walk a bit to reach here but it's worth it. It's a pure veg Cafe with good food and ambiance, and for those looking for a stay they have a guest house right in the middle of nature i.e on a hill. Considering the rapid commercialization happening of kasol this place maintains it's serenity, tranquil, peace. BTW they have room service as well which is helpful considering that cafe and guest house is like a 2 min walk but on a hill. The view and peace is definitely worth it. The place is a bit tricky to find. Walk to the end of kasol road where you will find a big hotel on the left and a huge tree that is hard to miss on the right, next to the tree you will find a small trail that leads you on the hill, don't get confused with the first house you find on the trail, just keep walking along and you will find small arrow heads leading to the cafe and guest house. The owner has a couple of dogs that are friendly, and you will always find other very friendly dogs that are very happy to let you let them and feed them, you can see one in the photo. As an added bonus we made a friend there who is an American lady who stays near the cafe and guest house, she has a beautiful house with an amazing porch where had a few sessions of you catch my drift😂.

FRAUD ALERT - The restaurant is hard to find. The place was empty when we went. We ordered JMC pizza which was for 550 rs, shake was for 160 and coke was for 40 rs. When we saw the bill everything was overcharged. The pizza was billed at 630 rs, shake was for 180 and coke for 100 rs When we asked the person at the reception he said you have come for first time hence we charge extra to customers who come for first time. I asked where it is written and he started showing the extra coal amount which is charged 50 rs. I said give me owners number and we will call him to confirm this and on hearing this he panicked and said okay we will give you discount and we paid him whatever was written in the menu. Have attached the bill for your reference. Visit on your own risk. Edit post owner response -I have already added photo of the bill. Gst is 5 percent. Don't try to fool customers. It is illegal to charge customers over and above what is there in the bill. When I asked the guy to give me owners number he said the owner has gone to the market and I don't have his number. If you guys were so transparent in your behaviour the guy would not have panicked. Also there is no gst bill and registration number mentioned on the bill. One complain to GST department and they will be knocking on your door. Better get your act straight.

Short Version: Go for the short trek, but don't expect breathtaking views or mouthwatering food. Longer Version: During our visit in early May, we faced difficulty finding clear directions to the cafe, resulting in a arduous trek and some aimless wandering. Finally reaching the cafe, we were disappointed to discover that the view consisted mainly of the back of unmaintained houses and distant mountains. Although the outdoor seating seemed more appealing, we had to settle inside due to a slight rain. The person at the reception was clearly high and took his time attending to us. Following recommendations, we opted for the Falafel plate and we were craving some Honey Chilly Potato. However, the food that followed was nothing short of a disaster! The Falafel plate was mediocre, with tasteless hummus that failed to impress. The so-called Honey Chilly Potato resembled cubed potatoes stir-fried in herbed honey and sauces, which, looked like Aloo chaat, but it’s taste was abysmal. Considering the hassle we encountered to reach this cafe, coupled with the disappointing food and lackluster view, I would not recommend going out of your way to visit Jim Morrison Cafe. Kasol boasts numerous other beautiful cafes by the riverside with much better food that would be a more worthwhile choice.
