Joy Restaurant — Restaurant in Himachal Pradesh

Being from Himachal but having lived outside for most of my life, I had higher expectations when my cousins suggested this “popular” local spot. Right from the entrance, things felt off-there was a friend of the owner chit chatting with him, literally blocking the narrow pathway, and despite us awkwardly squeezing through, neither he nor the owner bothered to acknowledge or make way. The vibe was instantly unwelcoming.

Once we got table in this compact restaurqnt, we ordered some starters like chat papdi, which was decent but only because it’s supposed to be cold- can’t say the same for the service though, as the waiter seemed too busy ignoring us. Main course took forever to arrive and the taste was just average, and just when we thought things might improve eating sweet dish, I noticed the cutlery was filthy, stuck with some old gunk that almost made me puke. When I pointed it out, the waiter casually replaced the glass, no apology, nothing.

The staff’s behavior was consistently rude to most tables, except the ones they seemed to know personally. It's clear this place survives because of limited options in town. If this restaurant were in a real city, it wouldn’t last a week. It’s stuck in time, arrogant, and completely unaware that the world and basic hospitality standards have moved on. My first visit to Joy Restraunt today in Palampur. It is going to be a detailed review in terms of overall experience in all departments.

1. Sitting arrangements and Restraunt hygiene 1 star only ... Very congested sitting arrangement , air conditioning is not proper , suffocated environment. Hand wash basin is inside kitchen area and that is also very uncomfortable as well as to move through kitchen area to wash basin. It also increases contamination risk in kitchen .

2. Food quality & Quantity 3.5 star Quality is good ,taste is very homely style as we ordered daal makhni, palak paneer for lunch Quantity per serving is also good .

The place where I used to visit from last 25+ years. This is a very old and great place to visit. I personally have my childhood spent visiting this restaurant. I will highly recommend this place when you are hungry and you are in palampur, Himachal Pradesh. You can easily find Chinese, south indian and many other type of food here. There is a paid parking nearby about 200 meters form this restaurant. So park your vehicles, visit the restaurant and enjoy one of the most delicious food of Palampur.
