Bittersweet Disappointment – What Happened, June16?

I’ve always loved Bir. There’s something about the air, the vibe, the mix of quiet and colour that makes you want to keep coming back.

And June16 Cafe was always part of that ritual—cozy, artsy, tucked away just enough. I’ve been here before and enjoyed my time, which is why this review is hard to write.

We went there twice this time—once in the evening, once the next afternoon. The first visit, we ordered coffee. It wasn’t bad, just... nothing to write home about. But what really stood out was the energy. The owner seemed irritated even while taking the order. No greeting, no warmth—just a cold stare and a mechanical nod. Still, we brushed it off. Maybe it was a long day.

The next afternoon, we went again—hoping for a better experience. One of us had an iPad in hand (not even switched on yet), and the moment we sat down, the owner instantly told us, “You can’t work here.” It felt unnecessarily harsh. No one had even opened the device yet. It felt like we were being judged before we even placed an order.

Still, we stayed. Ordered 7–8 items, actually. Again, same energy. The owner looked visibly annoyed while taking the order, like he didn’t want us there. We shifted upstairs and waited. The food and drinks were okay—definitely not bad, but not special either. Average. If it weren’t for the desserts (which were genuinely great), I’d have nothing nice to say. So kudos on that at least.

But what really ticked us off was the pancake situation. I had personally written down the order and handed it over to the owner. Pancakes were on that list. They never arrived. When we reminded him while leaving, he flat-out denied we had ordered them. Even showed us another order slip—one he had written. When I asked to see the one I had written myself, he suddenly produced it—and there it was, clear as day: pancakes. He then said, “Oh it’s my mistake but I didn’t charge you for them anyway.” We never even saw a bill. The payment was already made.

It’s not about the pancakes. It’s the attitude, the defensiveness, the sheer lack of hospitality that left a sour taste.

Final thoughts: I still love Bir. I’ll keep coming back. But June16? I’m not sure anymore. Something has changed, and not for the better. And that’s a real...

A Sweet Symphony at 16 June Cafe: Where Love Brews in Every Cup

My recent visit to 16 June Cafe was nothing short of a delightful rendezvous with warmth, flavor, and an unexpected touch of romance. Nestled in the heart of [Location], this quaint café quickly became a haven for my taste buds and a charming story unfolded with every sip and bite.

Decadent Delight The star of the evening was undoubtedly the hot chocolate—a velvety elixir that danced on my palate, enveloping me in a cocoon of rich, comforting indulgence. Accompanying this heavenly concoction were slices of carrot cake and brownie, each bite a symphony of flavors that left a lingering sweetness.

The Love Behind the Name However, the most heartwarming part of the evening was when we discovered the endearing reason behind the café's name—16 June. As it turns out, this is the date when the owners, in a moment of sheer love and commitment, proposed to each other. Suddenly, every sip and bite took on a new layer of meaning, and the café transformed into a testament to the enduring magic of love.

A Cozy Ambiance Beyond the delectable treats, the ambiance of 16 June Cafe played a crucial role in elevating the entire experience. The cozy interior, adorned with soft hues and charming décor, created an inviting space where time seemed to slow down, allowing patrons to savor both the flavors and the moments.

Personalized Touch The attentive staff added a personalized touch to the evening, ensuring that every guest felt not just like a customer but a welcomed friend. Their warmth and genuine smiles resonated, making the overall experience feel like a delightful conversation with old acquaintances.

In conclusion, 16 June Cafe is not merely a culinary delight; it's a celebration of love, sweetness, and the simple joys of life. Whether you're a solo wanderer in need of a cozy retreat or a couple seeking a romantic spot, this charming café is sure to leave you with a heart full of warmth and a taste of love in every sip and bite. It's not just a café; it's a love story...

ONE WORD - HEAVEN TWO WORDS - AMAZING EXPERIENCE THREE WORDS - I LOVE JUNE16

So my paragliding pilot told me - Sir, there are so many wonderful cafes in Bir, each with its own unique vibe, but there's one that you should definitely not miss - June 16. Its very close to landing site.

I said - ok let's go. The moment I entered this place I felt the sense of belonging here, I sat inside for 5 minutes & I was already in a parallel universe. It was the most peaceful eating place I have been to in last couple of years. Such was the vibe of this cafe, that I had already enjoyed the cafe without even eating the food. I hope this place always stays like this.

So I had a quick chat with Ritu Mam and Sumit Sir (owners) and came to know that they came from Mumbai to build this concept. This really raised my expectations since I've seen Mumbai people thriving to offer quality in everything they offer.

Coming to food, I ordered Vietnamese Coffee, Grilled Veggies Sandwich and Fresh Strawberry Cake. Everything was fresh, had unique taste and was so fulfilling. My breakfast was sorted. 5 of 5 for everything. I am definitely going to visit this place again when I'd come to Bir.

Lastly I thank the owners and staff for the wonderful experience. I wish this place receive more love...

Cute, cosy and warm - this little cafè offers all things good and nice. I totally loved this place. I stayed in Bir for 4 days, ended up coming here thrice. I tried their hummus-falafal, pastas, veg sandwich, pancakes, waffles, etc. Food was good. At all the times. Pancakes are their speciality. They even were sweet to make me eggless pancakes. ❤️ For beverages, I had: Beetroot Lemonade (Asked them to make it sugar-free, was 5/5), Affogato (4/5), Bombay Cutting Chai (4/5) (Bir people make chai differently, if you wanna enjoy a kadak chai, this is your go-to) It offers a couple of rooms, too. It's run by a lovely couple, who is sweet and have wonderfully done this place. They juggle their roles between being the owners, chefs, servers and managers. That may cause a little delay in your order, too, but I won't complain. I never came here in a rush. And I believe in a place like Bir, you shouldn't be rushing at all. :) This place has a charm that you can't avoid. I spent a lovely evening here a day before heading to McLeod. Sitting outside, all alone, painting and scribbling in my journal. This place was so warm and nice, that I ended up creating a little artwork for it. :)

Had the best, filling breakfast one could hope for after a long and tiring day in Bir. This is probably the most well known place in town, and I can attest to the good reviews. The fruit juices were fresh. The Eggs Kejriwal was perfect 6/5. Chilli Cheese Toast 4/5, Bread Omelette 4/5. I'm not really a tea drinker but ordered the rose tea since I was told it's a local variant from the Kangra region. I'm not really sure about that though. 3/5 Vibe is casual, modern and touristy. Your typical instagrammable cafe with a view. We sat on the first floor with a great slice of the Bir sky in front of us. Counted some 42 off paragliders that weekday in June. But the downstairs feels slightly cramped. Upstairs, we had a nice little smoke after the heavy breakfast. Service is noticeably fast, and professional. The local girl who was bringing up our plates to the first floor was all smiles. The owner meanwhile looked bored, or busy, or just downright disinterested. He left halfway in the middle of the conversation. Not a fun guy. Prices are average for the area. Actually lesser than I expected. Best person to bring : Whoever you're in Bir with, barring family.
