Like its name, Sunshine Café welcomes you on Old Manali's main drag. The green brick interiors with faux tent-like ceiling must be really welcoming on a warm day. On a winter day, it can make a cold day seem colder. When I was there, there were a grand total of three customers, including I. The other two were using the cafés wi-fi to work-from-home. Sunshine's USP seems to be the trance music they play through the day, the live music scene from 6pm to midnight, the sheesha hukkas and beer. Though, who would like to shell US$ 5 for a Tuborg is beyond me. Expensive beer and wine seems certainly to be an ongoing issue, as a sign near the entrance says "DO NOT BRING DRINK(sic) FROM OUTSIDE". Clearly Sunshine has a hidden USP, as it's menu is run-of-the-mill Old Manali and its prices quite immodest, justifying its extensive seating arrangements at two levels. A lower mattress seating area in a courtyard by the river(but without a view), an outdoor seating space outside the café proper and an L-shaped indoor area with both table-chair seating and comfortablr cushions on the floor. If anything, I'd recommend the tables beside wide windows overlooking the street as being exceptional for people-watching during the season, when tourists from several nationalities throng Old Manali. As I'd had breakfast and it was too early for lunch, I ordered a milk coffee. Sadly, the café isn't much into coffees - no cappuccinos, americanos or latte. The coffee was hot in an unmatched cup and plate. After downing it in a few gulps, I lingered on, people-watching with a...

From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with a warm smile by the owner. The cozy atmosphere was instantly welcoming, and I couldn't help but notice the adorable cat lounging in the corner - it was love at first sight!
But the real magic happened when the food arrived. Oh. My. Goodness. The chicken soup was like a warm hug in a bowl - comforting, flavorful, and utterly divine. And the Afghani chicken? MIND-BLOWING. The spices, the flavors, the tender juicy chicken... it was a culinary masterpiece!
But what really took the experience to the next level was the LIVE SINGING. I mean, I've heard of restaurants having live music, but this was something else. The singer's voice was like butter - smooth, rich, and utterly captivating. I found myself swaying to the music, feeling like I was in a private concert.
In short, Sunshine Cafe is a GAME-CHANGER. The food, the atmosphere, the live music, and the warm hospitality all come together to create an experience that will leave you feeling like you're walking on sunshine (pun intended!).
So don't wait - book your table NOW and get ready to be blown away by this incredible cafe. Trust me, you...
Read moreOne of the BEST Cafe in Old Manali I was on my SOLO trip to Old Manali. One fine evening when I was walking down the main street, I stopped suddenly to listen to the music coming from Sunshine Cafe. Went inside to have a closer look. One guy(Santosh, who is now a good friend) was singing his heart out while playing guitar. I immediately sat there and ordered some snacks. I was completely mesmerized by the LIVE Music and the whole vibe of Sunshine Cafe. I sat there till 11 clock and went back to my place only when it was closing for real. Then guess what?? I used to go there almost every evening after that day during my one month stay in Old Manali. I started playing Cajon and guitar myself there with Santosh, we would sing even after the permissible time, would meet new people every day, and each evening was different and unforgettable
In Conclusion, This Place is a VIBE.
The Food is Awesome. 🧆 They have very unique dishes🍝 They serve Vegan Food too. 🥗 The Interior is trippy as hell.🥴 The staff is super-duper friendly.
