We visited Barbeque Spice Abids on August 15th 2024 at 10 PM with a group of nine people, looking forward to a good dining experience. However, the evening turned out to be a major disappointment. Upon our arrival, we noticed that half of the items on the buffet were already finished. Even something as basic as salad was missing, and to our surprise, there was no one around to replenish the dishes. This was not what we expected, especially at a restaurant known for its barbeque buffet.
The service was another area where Barbeque Spice fell short. The staff seemed disinterested in serving us, barely making any effort to attend to our table. When we finally managed to get some starters, the quality was appalling. The fish and prawns served were so tiny that they looked like infants—definitely not the standard you would expect at a barbeque restaurant. The overall attitude of the serving staff was indifferent, and it seemed like they just wanted to get through the night without putting in any effort.
One of the most frustrating parts of the evening was when a staff member informed us that they would be closing at 11:30 PM. Instead of addressing the issue of empty dishes and lack of service, he simply stated, "This is all we have now, and we are closing soon." This was not only unprofessional but also very disappointing. If the restaurant was running low on food and had no intention of refilling the dishes, they should have informed us when we arrived. We could have chosen to go to another restaurant where our experience would have been valued.
Towards the end of our meal, we called the chef to express our concerns. He did manage to bring out a few more dishes, but by that time, the experience was already ruined. Overall, our visit to Barbeque Spice Abids was a letdown. If you’re planning on going for a buffet, I strongly suggest you consider other options. Don’t be swayed by the influencer reviews on Instagram—they seem to be more about hyping the restaurant than providing an honest reflection of...

If I had to sum up my experience in one word, it would be "regret." ₹1200+ for this buffet? I think I just paid for an expensive lesson in disappointment.
Starters: If salt was gold, the chef would be a billionaire. Every single starter was overloaded with salt. The pani puris were so stale that they had already retired from being crunchy.
Barbeque: Average at best. The pineapple BBQ was the only thing that didn't need rescuing.
Main Course: Chicken Haleem? More like a distant cousin of haleem that nobody recognizes. Mutton curry? More like bone broth with kheema garnish. You need a microscope to find actual meat. Guntur Prawns? As someone from Guntur, I must say – I’ve never seen Prawn Rasam before, and I hope I never do again. It was so watery, I thought they were trying to start a new soup trend. Also, the prawns were so tiny, I’m sure they were just born. Ghee rice? They must have whispered “ghee” over it because there was no actual trace of it.
Desserts: Gulab jamuns were marble-sized and half-cooked. They also had a strange sour taste—maybe the dough had fermented into a science experiment. There was a green, watery thing pretending to be kheer. I suspect it was an alien life form.
Curd rice? The chef used up all the salt in the starters and forgot to add any here.
The Only Saving Grace: Katti Dal – at least it didn’t offend my taste buds.
To add to the misery, they played the worst Happy Birthday song twice. I’ve never heard a birthday song with a teenmar soundtrack before.
Overall, this was a buffet straight out of a food nightmare. If you enjoy scavenger hunts (for meat in the mutton curry) and food experiments gone wrong, this is your place. Otherwise, stay...
Read moreBBQ Abids was an average experience for me and my six friends, especially considering the hype around the place.over rated. If you're visiting for the first or maybe even the second time, it might feel somewhat okay. But for anyone expecting something special, it may turn out to be disappointing. The overall food quality didn’t meet expectations. The rice items were the biggest letdown — they lacked flavor and felt like they were just put on the menu for the sake of variety. Even the rotis were not heated properly, arriving at the table cold and chewy.
The seating arrangement was poorly managed and looked messy, with no proper ambiance to make the dining experience pleasant. One major drawback was the absence of air conditioning — the entire space felt hot and uncomfortable, especially with the crowd. This made it even harder to enjoy the food. The washrooms were the only slightly positive aspect — they were clean and usable, which is a rare thing in many such places.
Coming to the food again, most of the curries like mutton, chicken, and fish didn’t taste fresh or flavorful. The only exception was the prawns curry, which was decent. The fried fish pieces and veg corn starters were okay but not extraordinary. Chicken haleem was a complete disappointment — it lacked the richness and taste one would expect.
BBQ items were just regular and didn't carry any signature taste or uniqueness. Desserts were average too — ice creams and pastries were okay but not worth a revisit. Also, no complimentary drinks were provided, which is usually expected in buffet-style places. Parking is available, but overall, the experience wasn’t satisfying and I wouldn't recommend it for anyone looking for a good buffet...
