With my experience here I would rate somewhere between 3.5 to 4 but as zomato do not allow decimal rating giving it 4
In the same Shoreline of eatstreet, eatmore comes now the new one ByTheBay with a beach themed ambience that will mesmerize you with its panoramic view of the Necklace road with dazzling lights & a glimpse of our national flag. One of those such places that can make your evening a better place to relish. (After Aqua, The Park; Olive bistro for me). Worried about the bad smell and mosquitos as it is along Hussain Sagar. ? Surprisingly No, on the day we visited.
Seating Options – BTB has an Outdoor seating resembling a shack. accommodating 30-40pax with attached bar counter; indoor seating with beach-themed paintings, surfboards & paddles accommodating 70-80 pax; Balcony style seating with approx 20 pax capacity. Overall close to 140-150. Service – Is pretty quick and prompt to cater to the crowd. It's not just our experience, I have observed personally other tables getting their orders early. Pricing – It is on the higher note for the qty served. All most 80% of the dishes fall under 300-500 range making it 1500INR for two.
Coming to the main element food BTB serves food from Indian, Italian, European & Asian cuisines. Below is what I felt tasting the ones served & Loved the way the food is plated on wooden boats shaped plates echoing to the ambience theme.
Starters Malai Broccoli – Creamy crunchy with a hint of spice. This is just okay, had better ones. Paneer Ghee Roast & Paneer Anarkali Tikka – While Ghee roast lacked the flavours in the bites, Anarkali Tikka lived up to the expectations with flavours in every bite. Honey Chilli Potatoes – Decent one. Kothimira Kodi Vepudu – One of the best among the starters. A dish with coriander base can go wrong if the marinade not rightly managed. Here It was well balanced and totally loved it. Pomfret tandoori – a whole pomfret fish swam into a pot of tandoori spices mixed in yoghurt and then tandoor’ ed, The end result is lip-smacking. Chilli Chicken Goan Style – To be honest not sure what is that extra goes into the dish when mentioned as goan style but my palate couldn’t accept it as chilli chicken itself totally as I had better ones. Nethali Fish Fry – Yet another good one I had. Cute little Nethali fish fried to be crunchy goes well with the tarter dip. You do not need to worry about thorns, they are totally chewable.
From the Main Course Mixed Veg Caldin Curry – Caldin often refers to the preparation made by infusing veggies and spices in coconut milk. This one was really good and went well with Malabar paratha. Vegetable Kori Gassi with Kori Rotti – Kori means chicken in Tulu and really not sure what Vegetable Chicken mean 😕 . Gassi refers to a red chilli ( Karnataka's byadagi chilli) gravy. However, it tasted good. Nizami Handi – Not sure what it was but went through the description to understand it’s a mint & spinach based gravy with assorted veggies and dry fruits cooked. Inline to the description & was good. Did go well with Malabar paratha again. Chicken Cafreal Steak with Garlic Butter Pav – Though I understand the key ingredient of Chicken cafreal is mint and green chillies this one is a NO for me as the mint flavour was overpowering suppressing the spice from the chilli. Chemmeen roast – This is again one of my fav among all. Where Chemeen (Prawns) cooked in rich coconut milk with kokum twist.
Finally Deserts Brownie, Shahi Tukda, Qubani ka meeta were on par. Nothing great and as well as not bad.
Overall my experience was good (Can be better if the management works on the suggestions) and definitely a place that I can recommend for weekend chilling/hangout provided if the Price to Quantity ratio is...

Read moreMy first experience with By The Bay is “Simply Wow!!”. Ambience, food, staff – everything about By The Bay is unique. The moment you step in to this place you will feel like leaving everything behind and just chill 😊. With a great view of Hussain Sagar through the high glass windows from the seats provided inside or direct view of the lake from the seats provided outside, next to the lake, it is a perfect place to have a relaxed lunch/dinner.
Coming to food, their menu is exhaustive, so expect yourself to visit the place multiple times to try all of them 😊. I went there with my family; my kids started loving this place so much that they wish we stayed next door! Their food is so light on stomach proving their commitment of staying away from Ajinomoto and food colors. It was the first time we felt light even after having several starters in a restaurant. Their “Crispy Lotus Stem with Honey” is mind blowing Their“BBQ Prawns” are juicy Their Chicken in any dish is soft and juicy If you have cravings for a perfectly baked thin crust Pizza – don’t miss it here Their Pastas are satiating Their Biryanis are flavorful Their mocktails stand out from the crowd!
