Chutneys — Restaurant in Hyderabad

My visit to this place in 2025 after 6 yrs and sharing this update. This is purely my experience and opinion.

They moved restaurant to 1st floor. Earlier it was on ground floor. You can reach by lift or by stairs. To take a lift you have to walk about a min in a very narrow lane/passage which is also passage for cars given for Valet. Challenge is when you have elderly people.

What's wrong with Chutneys management? Why did they make their ambience so clumpsy and congested. Ambience is definitely disappointing from what I experienced and saw earlier. Tables were left with eaten plates giving a very unhygienic view as soon as one walks in.

Now the least I expect from a restaurant of this brand is clean cutlery. Now I don't know what to call it, but first I got a plate which was not cleaned / washed properly and dosa remains were still on plate. I asked them to change which they did instantly. Now comes turn of spoons, I had to clean them myself again. Forks, I tried cleaning but I gave up and used ate with my hands finally. The dal is literally dried in gaps of fork and was tough for me to clean. And it's not one but two forks I got were same. Now the question is if cutlery presented to customers is cleaned this way, I wonder about rest of kitchen. 😳

I wanted to share the feedback with manager in charge but they were busy taking orders and not keen in even checking customers who are almost about to finish.

While I had this experience in this branch of Chutneys at Hockey Ground, Sindhi Colony, one thing which didn't disappoint is quality and taste of food + service of staff has definitely improved, so I was happy for that at least.

6yrs Back (2019): Chutneys is a good choice for Vegetarian food. Slowly the taste and quality of food is going down. It would be good if they can maintain...

Don't go to chutneys ever!!! We went with my family as it was my mom's Birthday which was supposed to be a happy occasion but the old guy manager in Chutneys Begumpet wanted to destroy our peace. We were 4 adults and 3 kids, so we ordered 4 thalis as we know we cannot complete everything. I am a very less eater so as my son, we both were eating in which he ate only 2 puris and I ate half the rice and everything else was left on the plate. The old guy manager who came and telling me that thali cannot be shared that too when my son was eating and I was about to put food in my mouth....Seriously????I don't care how your food was, or how elite your customers are, or how long you have been running your so called restaurant. You seriously insult the customers while they are eating food?? Why didn't you say it when we ordered thalis???It doesn't matter who you are, if you don't know how to value your customers, you are a zero.There is a reason why they call food and hospitality services. Learn to treat your customers with respect!!! You guys have been staring at our plates all the while, do we look like we eat all your food in the restaurant?? You won't pack the remaining food but you rudely say that you will just throw it in the garbage? Seriously? For us , food waste is big No but I think for you guys, money making is the only goal. Staff is rude, don't value their customers and irony is no chutneys...

DISSAPOINTING family dining experience from parking to checkout.

Upon reaching, stopped for valet service. There was only 1 person for the service, he parks and takes the car out. Upon enquiring about valet service politely he replied using very harsh words. And forced me to park myself if I have to visit the restaurant. The security guy also don't have enough patience to talk to the customers. When we got the table and were waiting to order. There was nobody to take the order. After calling a couple of waiters 1 of them came finally after 15-20mins. And again after that, time had come to keep waiting another 30mins for order to be served after complaining couple of times. When the order came they started getting all the items at 1s, again a new issue came for refilling the chutneys and sambar, when waiters were least bothered to listen. And when the bill came after so long time, couple of waiters were continuously looking at us for getting tip w/o giving service.

The quality of food I believe is not the same in chutneys now. They have started going on a SPICY side only. 3 variety of dosa's we order and inside every dosa, for 1st time ever we found so many green chillies. When asked about it, they say it is like this only.

NOTE: Don't ever go in weekends/festive days, long waiting and no parking. You should be prepared for spicy only items w/o mentioning...
