Visited again on 01-Jan-2020 and downgrading the review from 5 to 2 Stars. We made an online booking on 18-Dec-19 for a dinner with family to celebrate our daughter's birthday on 1-Jan and got an email confirmation for the same. In the booking note itself I had mentioned about the birthday very clearly. When I called up the restaurant on 31-Dec to confirm my booking, I had to go through 5 call transfers to reach the right person who had simply no clue of the reservation. Everyone in the call chain seemed to be comfortably ignorant and proud of their ignorance and indifference. The last guy took a fresh booking for us for the same slot. When we arrived at the restaurant, we were greeted with a stupid smile and and told that there were no birthday cakes available and none could be arranged as well! I had to call the restaurant manager and show him the online confirmation of my booking with a clear note for the birthday to convince him and get the cake arranged. Would also like to mention that the chairs at the restaurant were not even cleaned from the previous day's use and we had to hunt and get them replaced 4 times to finally get a set of clean chairs to sit on. Again, the staff proudly mentioned that they may be food and oil stains from previous use and were simply not in a mood to clean them up for other guests! Clearly, they have a long way to go when it comes to attentiveness and hospitality. I would seriously NOT recommend going there if you really care about having a good experience. If you are ready to take the risk, double check everything before going as the restaurant staff certainly does not care. Had a family dinner to celebrate my wife's birthday. We thoroughly enjoyed the food, service and the relatively quiet and cozy ambience. We had ordered a combination of veg/non-veg dishes and all of them were just perfect as far as the taste, freshness and overall presentation were concerned. The restaurant manager asked us if we were celebrating a special occasion and arranged for a birthday cake, a small gift and complimentary desserts. We look forward to visiting Kangan again to celebrate another birthday in the family in Jan. 2020 and hope to have a positive...
Read moreThe Goan Detour is a pop up that intricately ventures into the flavourful journey of Goan Cuisine. The unheard stories of the locals and the ingredients forgotten were all brought to us by Chef Avinash. There is so much more to the beaches and party destinations in Goa that is richly infused in the culture and food.
This pop up is appealingly placed at the Kangan restaurant of Westin which again enticingly folds in the traditional ambiance of Indian culture.
The Goan Detour is priced at 4999/- and is available for experience in Westin Hyderabad from 10th to 12th March! Below are the details of the Vegetarian Menu.
1.) Pao de Quesso - Cheese stuffed Pao with Tomato Saar Salsa. Makes a lovely start to the meal! 2.) Duo of Pumpin - Rich and flavourful pumpkin xec-xec bisque with pumpkin seed croquettes. 3.) Tender Coconut Carpaccio - Star of the meal, a unique representation of the tender coconut with Solkadhi, Aamras, Leche de Tigre and fried quinoa added the perfect crunch. 4.) Tale of Two Cities - Jackfruit, Ambotika, Kalchi Kadhi star fruit 5.) Sorbet Course 6.) Dungar Vangi - Crisp Eggplant skin, smoked eggplant mousse and aiolis 7.) Coconut Jaggery Cheesecake with Cream Cheese frosting and Brandy Snap 🍪 - one of the best cheesecakes I have had in a while!

Read moreKangan is an excellent North Indian restaurant based in The Westin Hyderabad. Ambience, food and service overall was great! Price in comparison with the horrible Kebabs and curries - ITC Kakatiya was reasonable. In detail review - Kebab starters - Peshawari Murgh (Chicken) was mouth wateringly delicious 😋, succulent semi charcoal cooked chicken Kebab! Tandoori subzi (mixed vegetable) was good but too much pineapple was given and no panneer (Cottage cheese)! Highlight dishes - Tala Ghost - Lamb Kebab cubicle sized - Extremely juicy tender meat - very delicious, perfect with Tandoori bread & Dal Kangan (Black Dal lentils)! - charcoal, smoky buttery lentils - 😋 Yum as hell! Breads were well baked especially Phulka and Tandoori roti! Methi roti was good too! Ambience is serene and classic music played by musicians in background. Service is good, attentive and knowledgeable staff, but they get nervous when a huge crowd comes to their restaurant! This I personally witnessed! Need to stay calm and composed instead of arguing and fighting among each other, which I have seen take place on Saturday 22nd October 2022! Pls. Visit and support this restaurant if one is keen to try north Indian restaurants in 5 star 🌟...
