. We have few restaurants that are not business or restaurant but an emotion and one such for me is Sagar papa ji ka dhaba in abids , this place has so many memories from childhood to my current teenage years and it's been a year and have heard the rumor mill.that with the new AC section papaji has become more restaurant like and dishes are not the same .......so today when we decided to drive down 31 km to go try it and all through 60-90 min drive all we were wondering if the taste would be same and I am glad we came the food was spot on we ordered same exact dishes we order every time and every dish was just brilliant and bought back old memories only daal makhni I felt changed slightly maybe 5% but tasted better than any in hyderabad. If I have to be really really critical and really have to point out something only suggestion would be to add those long slit green chillies to Gobi to make it lil bit more spicy 🔥 .
I really have to appreciate the owners that they have been able to maintain the same exact quality and such warm service .... we packed lot of food for dinner too and and when we came down met the old service staff he came to me very lovingly and innocently first pointed to my big beard said doesn't suit me and said why coming after such long time it felt not coming to a restaurant but to friends home . I would request the owners to keep the same quality and keep this place legendary Keema kaleji - 11/10 Bharta -10/10 Daal makhni - 8/10 Aloo gobhi - 9/10 Roti paratha requested xxx crispy and came that way 10/10 Chicken seekh kebab -9.5/10 Special chutney 10/10
Papa Ji's has managed to modernize with an AC section while keeping its soul intact. The owners deserve praise for maintaining such consistent quality over the years. Whether you're a longtime fan or a first-time visitor, Sagar Papa Ji Ka Dhaba offers a dining experience that goes beyond just great food. It's a slice of Hyderabad's culinary heritage that continues to delight and create new memories. Last two mweekend were not that great as drove down 21 km last weekend to another Punjabi restaurant in mokila with 4.7 or 4.8 rating on Google and food was so average Rs 1600 dining Rs...
Read moreVisited this place after watching a celebrity reel about this dhaba. They don't seem to be bothered about the customer service at all. When I stepped into the AC section with my family, we were clueless about where to sit. People were waiting outside and my friend walked upto the person who seems to be the restaurant owner's son (identified him based on the social media posts of the celebrity) and asked him if someone could make a note of the details so that we could wait. He was very rude to us and said there's nothing like noting down the names and said whoever comes first will be provided with the seat. After hearing him say that I stood there for a while and based on my keen observation, I figured out that the owners of the restaurant seem to be very arrogant to normal customers but at the same time treating the high class customers with utmost respect (heights of discrimination). Later a boy came to us and asked for the details and said it takes 25 minutes to provide the seat, my friend provided the details but After observing the way they are treating the normal customers, I've decided to walk out of that place and took all of my family and friends to the GRAND HOTEL which is 2 mins away from this restaurant.
My first personal impression of this restaurant is very bad. The owner behaved as if he's providing us the food for free. Keeping everything aside, customers are the key for any business, if you don't know to respect them stay quiet but don't disrespect them..
Finally don't treat a customer based on their appearance or based on their...
Read moreThey say the classics never go away, with food. I tend to agree while also looking forward to new and fusion based cuisine. But who can argue that they wouldn't want the comfort of having a good ol'fashioned butter chicken or tandoori chicken or dal makhni even. Almost nostalgic for those that grew up enjoying their grandmother's recipe or mother's hand made roti. This brings us to Sagar Papaji ka Dhaba. Known for ages in the Hyderabad area, it is tucked away in a road closer to the older side of town. Well known amongst the city dwellers, the brand has gone from being a basic ground floor North Indian cuisine visit to an upgraded regular restaurant on the 1st floor. The ground floor now being at the entrance where you can still see a line-up of kababs and the exposed kitchen as you watch the chefs rolling up the dough of naan before sticking it into the tandoor. We frequent the place on occasion as a family and our usual order includes dal makhni, butter or ginger chicken and tandoori chicken. Accompanied by assorted breads and their famous onion chutney that is all washed down with the help of a chilled thumsup. It kinda takes you back to the 80's and the 90's when you enter and there is a nostalgic element to eating here. The food itself has had its hit and misses, but like tradition, we still visit and take the chance hopeful that this time will be good! All in all, worth a visit if you happen to visit the zoo, salarjung museum or happen to be...
