After a long wait, Mangaloreans finally have an authentic Andhra Restaurant to indulge in. Andhra Vaibhavan Restaurant is in Bejai. You can take the elevator or stairs as the restaurant is located on the first floor of the building. Parking is available in the same compound or on the main road.
As we went on a Sunday afternoon around 1 p.m., it was already crowded, so we had to wait ten minutes for a table. There are two seating areas - One AC and One Non AC. We sat in the AC section. There is not much space between tables, so you may feel claustrophobic.
There were five of us this afternoon and we ordered the following:
Andhra Bhojanam - Vegetarian Andhra Meals served on a plaintain leaf. The meal consisted of White Rice, Okra Fry, Chutney, Sambhar, Rasam, Curd, Papad and Semige Payasam. On the table, they had kept a set of accompaniments like gunpowder, gongura pickle and avakai pickle. I remember taking two full portions of white rice. The first time was with spoonfuls of gunpowder and drizzled with ghee and a drop of pickle. The taste was amazing. The second time, I ate some rice with parappu or Andhra Dhal, papad and curd along with the Okra Fry which tasted delicious as it had been seasoned with Garlic! Also tried the rest of the items and polished my leaf clean. This was a finger licking and lip smacking meal. I would recommend this for all Vegetarians who have/have not tried Andhra Meals before.
Telangana Chicken Biryani - One portion of this Biryani is sufficient for two to three people. The chicken pieces are huge and look so juicy. The aroma of the spices circulates all around you while eating. Served along with a Salan, Raitha and Semige Payasam, this meal is worth the price. I'm sure if you are alone, you will pack the leftovers.
Gobi Pakoda and Chicken Lollypop - Andhra Vaibhavam has a long list of Non Veg Appetizers, but just a few Vegetarian Appetizers at the moment. The pakoda were bite size and the spices used in the outer coating is what makes this Appetizer a yummy one. You will keep wanting to eat one right after the other. One portion of Chicken Lollypop comes with six pieces along with a bowl of tomato ketchup.
Mint Lime Cooler and Fresh Lime Soda - The perfect beverage to quench your thirst while indulging in the wholesome and flavourful meal. It's always a good idea to order beverages like this to cool you down.
We all enjoyed our lunch and must say, our stomach was filled to the brim. While leaving, we were greeted by anxious and hungry customers waiting to grab a table so they could enjoy the authentic Andhra Cuisine.
In spite of the crowd, the service was quick. Ambiance is nice, but as mentioned above, maybe they need to have open another dining hall on the second floor. The restaurant will definitely be crowded as Mangaloreans are always keen on trying new cuisines and for those who have relished on Andhra food before, will...

This is my first visit to Andhra Vaibhavam. It was a weekday, so there was absolutely little to no crowd.
As you would expect, it's a traditional Andhra style banana leaf dining experience. And I must say, it's the best experience.
The Menu is quite Limited, and i feel that's a good thing, coz it'll be easier to maintain the quality and standards when there are less items to deal with. I hope they do maintain.
It's better to offer quality over variety. And they sure didn't disappoint us on that..
We ordered Andhra Style Chicken Biriyani, and Guntur Chicken🌶️🌶️🌶️.
Service was pretty fast, we received our orders in just 2 minutes. Idk whether it's always that quick, or because of a weekday.
Starting from Andhra style Biriyani, it was really delicious. The chicken was cooked to perfection and juicy🍗😋. The flavours were on point. I mean, i have had Andhra style Biriyani before at different Andhra style restaurants in Bangalore, which are famous for it. And I cannot deny that, the Andhra style Biriyani here, will be my favourite one🌟. (Okay, a Lot of Andhra in one paragraph,... But that doesn't stop me from saying it again)....
Andhra Style Biriyani is a Must Try.🌟✨✨✨
Next, Guntur Chicken 🌶️🌶️🌶️. It's the spiciest dish on the menu. Andhra dining is incomplete without a super spicy dish, and so we ordered it. Waiter did say to us twice "it's very spicy", we said "Yes😋👍". When we tasted it, along with it's gravy, it wasn't as spicy. Disappointed🥹👎. It's just 🌶️ Not 🌶️🌶️🌶️ as in the menu. I remember sweating and tearing up while trying something similar in Bangalore.
Please spice it up. Keep it real. No need to mellow it down for Mangalorean palate😋
But, it was still delicious. It was flavorful, mildly spicy, chicken was tender and juicy again, overall a great dish. A Must Try. 🌟✨✨
We had also ordered hyderabadi biryani and lime soda. They were also great.
Overall the bill came down to just 870., that's really affordable, considering the delicious dishes, quantity and service.
Next time I would really love to try Andhra Bhojanam and the rest of the starters🌟🌟🌟. Since the menu is small, it'll be easy to explore and decide on a...
Read moreI visited this hyped place today after so long and had a bare minimum experience because when you mention “Andhra meals” we usually get the idea of a great veg meal or a non veg meal on a banana leaf and except for the banana leaf nothing was good in this restaurant, starting from the chicken starter, we ordered the kodi vepudu on the waiters recommendation and it was okay, no real taste just a random mixture of masalas and the Telangana chicken dry was nothing but just coating, very small pieces of chicken and coating bigger than the chicken, totally it tasted like maida fry. The pappu (dal) was so tasteless and bland, also they had very less items on the leaf with just two types of curries (excluding Pappu), namely sambar and rasam, the sweet provided was fine. Andhra meals has so much to offer, including at least two types of chutney but here they had only one and also only one palya was provided and no pickle, also they usually provide a gunpowder which is famous in Andhra meals which was mentioned in the menu but was nowhere to be seen but moreover the rice, just the basic white rice’s quality itself was bad. Lastly, the biryani which was the mutton fry piece biryani tasted so bland, the mutton was so chewy and the rice was probably over cooked and thick as it was great quality rice but rather some basmati rice. Over all it is nowhere near to the authentic Andhra meals which we get in Bangalore and it is no comparison to Bhima’s or Nagarjuna in Bangalore. So please stop comparing it to them and do not expect it to as good.
The service was fine but one of the waiters only knew Tamil which wasn’t a problem for us because we know Tamil but might be a problem for others but that’s not an issue because the service was great.
The ambience inside was good but they had very limited parking lot and that was a problem cuz we had to park at a far place and we also had a...
