The much hyped about 'upscale' place in Manipal is not that great after all. Maybe just not great for the vegetarians.
Now, I was told that the prices are high but the food there is amazing and we expect good food when we are hungry or we have heard too much about the place.
My rating and review is based on a vegetarian meal where me and my roommate ordered soups, appetizer and then the mains.
I am sure they stuck a balance somewhere by serving a soup too thick to my roommate and serving me flavored water. No, it was not clear soup it was supposed to be creamy and have a lot of cheese in it's authentic style.
The spicy cheesy fries were perhaps fries with red chilli with no cheese to be found. An amateur could do a better job at serving those.
For the mains we ordered soya veg fried rice where the first impression that I got was that it would have soya chunks in the rice. It was actually the soya sauce they mentioned. So it was fried rice which was black in color because of the sauce. That's it. Nil on flavors. Literally, nothing. Just like any other place you order fried rice from.
Paneer butter masala on the other hand looked promising. I would have garnished mine with coriander at least but I found the fine okay here. Again, not as amazing as the reputation of the restaurant but just okay. Then I noticed the paneer cubes made with sour milk. They ruined everything.
I would give it a 4 on 5 on ambiance and 3 for the service because they were slow turtles. They took away the quarter plates before we were done with the fries, got the food way before. Didn't really understand why was the table cluttered.
As for the bar, it was pretty and well lit. Maybe they serve...
Read moreA lovely place known for its wings , great music and beer! Absolutely loved the ambience and setup of the place - comfortable and spaced out seating, lighting to set you up for a party and a modern theme that is appealing to the youngsters with a grand bar stand! The music really keeps the place together creating a fantastic atmosphere which is both fun and hip.
The food here is fantastic but really the highlight is the wings! The ghost wings were awesome (and crazy spicy!!) and other dishes like crumble prawns , nachos, the cheese fries and even the tandoori chicken was flavorful and tasty! The main courses have nothing too great to mention of and there aren’t any specific dishes to call out - the menu is quite extensive by the way with a lot of usual choices from different food streams in veg and non veg - but the highlight really are the starters!! The surprise was the desserts… there are some really cool options here and they are well prepared and quite delicious. I would certainly recommend the custard, it’s perfect!!
The bar menu is also really good with beer , cocktails (and mocktails) and all the popular brands available.
The service is pretty good too , and considering the place can get a bit crowded it was reasonably quick. The waiters are polite and helpful. The pricing too is quite reasonable for a place like this and it’s not too heavy on the pockets.
Overall a wonderful place to hangout with friends and have a lot of fun and make...
Read moreThis place in Manipal is quite good for a meal, whether you're with a big family group or just a couple. They have different table sizes to suit everyone.
Coming to the food, it's generally very tasty. A special mention for their Machew soup – both veg and non-veg options are just awesome, really mind-blowing! For the main course, the Mushroom items are very nice, and the rotis along with that special veg gravy (forgot the name!) were super yummy. Even the non-veg dishes ordered were delicious. And don't miss the mocktails; they're quite good too.
One small thing, the crispy corn was just okay, not that crispy as expected. But that's a minor point.
They use a digital menu system where you scan a QR code to see the menu on your phone. This is convenient, but be aware that if you face network issues, it can be a bit tricky. It might be helpful if they had a backup solution, like a tablet or a couple of physical menus, especially when phone network signals are weak.
The restaurant looks clean and hygienic, which is a big plus. The waiting time is manageable, not too long, and the service is also good. They have separate washrooms for men and women, and they are kept very clean.
It's located on the 4th floor, but no worries, there's a lift available. And for those coming by vehicle, parking is also easily available. Overall, a good spot for a nice...
