Pastas at Hadiqa (Egg Factory) are loved by almost everyone. This bustling and quaint restaurant of Manipal would never dissapoint you. It is the go to place of anyone who craves some fine food and a refreshing atmosphere. The ambience at anytime of the day is pleasing as flavorful meals are served in the open dining space with lots of greenery and fresh air around.
The food is different from what you would get generally in Manipal. Some dishes are distinct and impressive while some need improvement. The place is mainly known for its pastas, shakes and desserts. I have tried a number of dishes here, like the Penne Arrabiata and Penne Alfredo with Basil Pesto, several pizzas which are creatively curated in the menu in the form of a periodic table, the Paneer Bell Biryani - a tasty biryani option for the vegetarians, Musty Mushroom pasta - creamy af and a must for all the Mushroom lovers, the Chlorophyll drink - looks weird but not bad when you taste it, choco lava cake with ice cream - a must try for all and oreo cheese balls! All in all, if you are in Manipal you cant skip on this place :) 🌿 In frame : Penne Arrabiata Veg Made with a tangy thick arrabiata sauce and loads of vegetables like broccoli and bell peppers. If you like spicy food you might love this. Rs. 140 🍗 Penne Alfredo with Basil Pesto (Egg and Chicken) It is my most eaten pasta from this place. It is creamy and has balanced flavors, just how an alfredo should be. Highly recommended ! Rs. 190 🍽️ I also tried the Oreo Cheese Balls from Payohima in Egg Factory and loved them. These are small chocolaty balls featuring a smooth texture of filling made of cream cheese and oreo dipped in white chocolate and freezed Rs. 30/- ❄️ Follow @the.margherita.diet on Instagram for regular food updates in and around...
Read moreI have been to this place on multiple occasions and hadn't gotten to writing them a review up until now. The place is in the heart of Manipal with services unique to them in the city.
Food: Appetizers: The mushroom Aglio olio is good if you like mushrooms tossed in the Aglio olio sauce without any pasta. A couple of their bruschettas are decent. Pizzas with different combinations of toppings: The pizza crust is quite good - thin and not rubbery. However, for me, the pizza was quite cheesy; I felt it was cheese sauce one time. The toppings and flavours are decently good. So opting for low cheese, the pizza was good. Pasta - Again tried a variety of their pasta. Of all the sauces, I liked the pesto and white too albeit it can again tend to get cheesy. I would also steer clear of a few - the desi pasta would be one among them. Omelette - Their omelettes are good - the seasoning is good but can be greasy. I guess the measures of the butter and cheese used seem to be a bit too generous for my liking. A special mention about the bread they serve with their pasta and eggs - Good! Worth it. In the choice of beverages, passion fruit soda (not available always), ABC and Green Chlorophyll are quite good. Desserts - The place also has an ice cream serving section. No extraordinary flavours though. I have tried the apple pie with ice cream too, it is okay.
Ambience: The cafe has an open and airy setup making it one of the best-suited places for an evening snack or a dinner. They can easily accommodate a large crowd as well.
Value for money: The place is priced moderately in comparison to similar spaces.
Service & Staff: No complaints about the service, they...
Read moreThe Egg Factory (or Hadiqa as it is called now) is the go-to place for continental food in Manipal. Serving the best pastas in town, it has established itself as one of the most popular restaurants in Manipal, with rush all day long, peak hours being 7-10 pm. Ambience and location - 5/5. Beautiful wooden seating with tin shed roof and dim lighting during evening. With Oh me Oh Slice, the pizza joint and Payohima, the ice cream parlour located within the same premises, Hadiqa provides a complete package for a foodie. Also, it is at walking distance from both Tiger Circle and Kamath Circle. Food - 5/5. Must try items are - All pastas on their menu, especially Cilantro pesto and Desi penne pasta. Chicken Stroganoff. All varieties of omlettes. A scoop of Swiss chocolate, Belgian chocolate or Mud pie for dessert from Payohima. The pizza menu is disguised in the form of a Periodic Table, with ingredients and toppings as the elements. However, the pizzas are thin crust, so won't suit to everyone's liking. Cost - 4/5. A complete meal with one beverage, one pasta and one dessert would cost you around 300(veg pasta) to 400(non veg pasta). Overall, it costs approximately 600 - 900 for 2 people. If you're in Manipal, you have to have a meal at the Egg Factory. You'll come again and again,...
