This restaurant has attained a name for itself as one of the best in that region and that is justified by its quality. In starters, we tried chicken Nizaami kebabs which were dry and the taste wasn’t outstanding. So I wouldn’t recommend this one. The other started that we did try was lemon chicken, this one was a bit undercooked but nonetheless, it tasted amazing! This is a must try. It was succulent and juicy. This combination with a good taste is somewhat rare in non veg domain. In the main course, we tried Mutton Zaika and chicken Birbali and I must say, both of them did NOT disappoint! They were amazing.. the Mutton was as tender as you could get, birbali was as tasty as it looks. One amazing thing about this restaurant is that they do not add food colour in their dishes, so whatever you see, is natural and so that takes a chunk of praise! We then tried their biryanis… the chicken dum biryani, I am afraid is a no go. It’s good ofc but not outstanding. But do try their tandoori biryani, it’s a bit costlier than it’s counterpart, but the price hike is well worth it! In dessert, we tried kulfi falooda, shaahi tukda and Rabdi. These dishes are easily forgotten so in skipping them you aren’t losing a lot. The kulfi in kulfi falooda wasn’t rich in taste, had lot of ice. Quality of kulfi wasn’t great. Shahi tukda was warm, which is a plus but the taste was bland. Rabdi was good. People who don’t get to eat Rabdis can try this as I have had better so am afraid my comment would be biased. Try it on your own discretion. Overall, do try out this place and also, it’s comparatively cheap. ( I might be wrong, but I am from Pune and this is true for me) Don’t try their naans… it’s like parathas. All in all, if you are lucky, you might end up ordering something good. Not all dishes...
Read moreNiyaz may be one of the most recognized names in Belgaum and often sought after by visitors from neighboring states, but unfortunately, my recent experience did not live up to its reputation.
I had ordered the Maharaja Mutton family pack, which did come with the promised 10 pieces, but most were small and bony, lacking the richness one would expect. The taste too fell short of being premium. The Kulcha I ordered was disappointing and did not quite live up to its name. Even the Mutton Biryani, a signature dish one would expect to shine, had mutton pieces that tasted more boiled than flavorful.
The dining experience was further marred by the AC outlet placed right overhead, which quickly cooled down the hot food. When I requested it be turned off, the waiter simply said, “Ye off nahi hota, Sir.” Speaking of service, there seemed to be an overabundance of staff—one arranging glasses, another pouring water, and yet another clearing plates. While attentive service is welcome, it turned intrusive when a waiter began clearing crockery mid-meal, leaning across the table, and leaving behind an unpleasant whiff of his armpit as we tried to eat—truly off-putting.
To top it off, the toilet (also used as the handwash area) was unhygienic, with a stale odor reminiscent of an old cinema hall restroom, further spoiling the overall impression.
All in all, despite its name and popularity, I would not recommend Niyaz as a Mughal cuisine destination if you are planning a pleasant lunch or...
Read moreI recently dined at Niyaaz Restaurant and had an excellent experience. Here's a quick rundown of the meal:
Starters: We began with chicken lollipop, which was perfectly spiced and crispy on the outside while juicy and tender on the inside. The portion size was generous and paired wonderfully with the tangy dipping sauce.
Main Course: For the main course, we tried the Chicken Biryani and Mutton Biryani, and both were absolutely delicious. The biryani was fragrant with the perfect blend of spices, tender meat, and fluffy, well-cooked basmati rice. Each bite was flavorful and satisfying, capturing the essence of authentic biryani.
Desserts: The dessert selection was a delightful way to end the meal. The Malai Cake was moist, creamy, and just the right amount of sweet. The highlight, however, was the Kunafa—an absolute treat with its crispy layers, gooey cheese center, and a perfectly balanced sweetness from the sugar syrup.
Ambiance & Service: The ambiance was inviting and comfortable, ideal for a relaxed dining experience. The staff was attentive and ensured our meal was served promptly.
Overall: Niyaaz Restaurant impressed us with its flavorful dishes and excellent service. It’s a must-visit for anyone craving quality biryani and delightful desserts. Highly...
