Al Ustad is the original sea food hotel near Vizhinjam fishing harbour. You get to taste unadulterated sea food at its best.

Now this is not a fine dining place where someone seats you to the table, and you are given a napkin, spoon and forks before the food is served. You have to eat with your hands you are closely seated to other customers. Also they do take good care of their customers and try to ensure they walk out with a sense of fulfilment. Their menu is limited but mouth watering; mains are fish curry, appam, porotta, rice noodles along with a good range of fish fries and prawns, squid and mussels (seasonal). This is all summed up with a fantastic lime and mint tea.

Loved it. Appams and super soft parottas. And a variety of seafood to choose from. Prawns were good, the squid wasn't how we like it. Fish fries are available. Fresh packaged grape juice was being sold there, that was nice. Sulaimaani is a must have, it served with mint in it.The best place for spicy food lovers. They have variety of fried fishes served with appam, parotta and kappa. They also serve gravy.appam and parotta is very soft.resturant is too small only small number of people can accomodate at a time.so you have to wait outside to explore the variety of fried fishes.
