After seeing a lot of insta reels and reviews we also decided to give this place a try one fine afternoon. The visit to this restaurant, all it did was.... it reinforced our beliefs that each reel, each post and each review is someone's own opinion and evaluation and not a general consensus. This property being right next to the sea should have warranted some brownie points but that too was a hard sell. The view, the sea, is alright but the ambience discussion ends there. The place looked worn out and offered a negetive charm and vibe. The service was just ok, barely, nothing to write home about. Some good tasty food would and could have held everything together but then that disappointed the most. So much scope for some good delicious sea food but all they managed to do was make them worse. Big prawns fry was bad literally wasted what could have been a good dish, the neymeen mango curry was absolutely pathetic, meen mutta was blindly fried into a bland lump of dry gravel and the ghee rice was utterly lame. The veg meals and the tapioca preparation were the only decent stuff we had dat day from this restaurant. The veg meals without any of the so called sea food were the only passable grub at this Sea food restaurant by the sea. Imagine that. So yeah whatever reviews, whatever reels and suggestions you see online about anything, remember it's someone else's individual opinion and their own perspective. Best would be to experience it yourself and form your own...

The menu had an array of seafood options, but we decided to try the Masala Shawai + Arabic Rice combo. Let me start by saying the masala Shawai is an absolute revelation! If youโre tired of the usual seafood offerings around Vizhinjam and crave something unique, this dish is a must try. The flavours were layered and complex. Just a heads up it is a bit spicy.
The Arabic Rice was equally impressive.Flavorful, fragrant, and served piping hot. The portion felt a bit skimpy compared to the mandhi servings youโd get at similar spots. Even the Masala Shawai was smaller than expected, but honestly, the explosive flavors made up for it.
Shoutout to the guy at the billing counter his positivity and helpful attitude capped off the experience on a high note.
Yes, the portions could be more generous, but still the place is worth it for the ambience and...
ย ย ย Read moreThe best thing I like about Kadal is the freshness of their fishes. The ones that I got were fresh and hence tasty. So, during my last 3 visits to Vizhinjam, I opted Kadal.
Rates are properly displayed on their boards unlike other restaurants in this area. So you will get an idea on thr rates. One of my suggestion is to consider reducing the rates of fishes a little bit because many of the restaurants in that area provide same fishes at lower rates. So it may affect you in future. Still, why I opt for Kadal again is due to the option of getting fishes tawa fried rather than deep frying. So please consider reducing the rates a little bit.
If you go there, please try their special fish curry. The gravy is very tasty. Dishes like prawns, kanava etc are similar to that of other restaurants.
Their staffs are polite unlike some other restaurants in Vizhinjam.
