Hospitality 3/5 We had to wait outside the restaurant for over a quarter of an hour to get a table for two and we got not so much as a smile from the staff. But once inside it was okay-ish. However there's nothing special to mention in this department.
Ambience 2.5/5 For a café, the ambience is nowhere near expected. Aside from a couple of photos of Monroe and an excellent choice of lighting, the ambience of the restaurant in general is quite weak. It is too crowded and there aren't anything to look at. No coffee table books, no bottles of wine.
Atmosphere 1/5 This is the worst thing about this café. Normally I'd love to spent a couple of hours in a café sipping on a double shot of espresso or a large mug of Irish coffee enjoying the silence and solitude it provides, sadly however this café is too crowded and way too busy for my taste. Not a place I'd like to sit down on a chair with a good book.
Menu 4/5 One of its strongest features. Way too many choices and each one sounds so good you can't wait to order them all. It took us almost another quarter of an hour to settle on something. One can find Italian, Mexican and Thai food here. (Sorry if I missed anything)
Food 4/5 I've to admit, the food tastes pretty good. My sizzler was exactly as advertised and expected. The flavor was great, the chicken tasted fresh, juicy and sweet. Not the best sizzler I've had but certainly one I'd have again. The sweets however are amazing. The mousse I had tastes like heaven. The chocolate truffle was also a treat for the tongue as well as the eye.
Service 3.5/5 Meh. Nothing worth mentioning. Not bad, but not very memorable either.
Price 3/5 The entire review, I've compared this to a 4 star hotel because it charges like one. the prices are okay for the for the food they serve, but I'd rather have steak from Hilton over mojo simply because, for an extra 100, I could eat in peace in a much calmer atmosphere and feel like a king.
Innovations and originality 3.5/5 "have a knife day" and "see you spoon" mats are interesting. Food I can't find elsewhere in the city, thumbs up for that, but nothing truly inspiring.
To summarise:
The café is ideal place to take your family to once in a while. It's also a great place for friends to hang out. And a great place to get exotic food if you're a food lover. But this café is not for a romantic date or some alone time with a mug of coffee and a book ( it's a café that doesn't even serve espresso for crying out loud).
Because it calls itself a café and charges like one, the review might look rather biased, but simply considering this as a restaurant in the city, it's pretty good. I'd recommend it if you've never been there. I'd also recommend it if you're a fan of exotic food. But if you're looking for a café like caperberry, I wouldn't recommend it, in fact the Cafe Coffee Day in Kowdiar is...
Read moreThe place is okay, but nowhere as good as it used to be. The quality of the service has declined, especially considering the fact that there are way better cafes and restaurants nearby. We went there on a Friday afternoon about two weeks back and ordered Chicken lasagna and Crème caramel, both of which tasted okay. When we got there the air conditioning wasn't functioning apparently, and one of the older guys there (who seemed like the manager) was very apologetic and so nice about it so much so that he wanted to make sure that we were completely okay with eating there without the ACs functioning (and we totally were). But apparently he seemed to be the only guy that cared as it was almost as if we were totally invisible to the rest of the serving staff, even though there were hardly 3 -4 customers when we arrived and by the time we left, there were none. Finally we had to go the cashier's desk ourselves to get our bills ready as clearly they didn't have the time to check if we were done.
I'd recommend properly training the service staff because for a restaurant of such high class, that used to be so good before, the attitude coming from the service staff is completely...
Read moreOne day I went out hunting for momos in this city called Trivandrum. After being disappointed by a lot of places, (momos weren't available at the time, its okay) I was directed to this uber cool place by a local friend. Boy was I surprised to find a place like this! The momos definitely fulfilled my empty (read: hungry) soul. There was more. The menu, the enriching multi page booklet menu. It can make you hungry, craving and drooling even if you are not hungry. The cafe is totally loaded with different taste and food combinations. Like who knew that tamarind and honey could do wonders even with mushrooms? The fried momos were not too dangerously fried and the steamed momos were just right. The chilly sauce could've been more chilly, I personally would've loved that. The ambience of the place more than compensates for it though. The chairs are nice and comfy and I had a great, comfortable experience. Easy on the pocket, the staff is nice and accommodating. It is conveniently located and easily accessible. Good place for taking fun pictures as well. I would definitely visit again, and again.. and again! Suggest you should...
