Located adjacent to the Lissie Metro station, it looks like a small restaurant from the road with limited parking space and seating. I have avoided the place many a times since it didn't seem as if I could park and get a place to sit. However last evening out of curiosity, I just stopped by and asked the security person outside the restaurant and he politely guided me to the large parking space behind the metro station reserved for the restaurant customers. Believe me it's as big as a football field. Next concern was about finding a seat and I was directed to the first floor of the restaurant which had a reasonably big dining area.
First impression, the place has a feel of a college canteen with 95% of diners being young college students and bachelor's. The place was jam packed. I could count at least 60 + people in there. The restaurant was dimly lit. It was a pandemonium there with the loud music and the high decibel chatter of the youngsters. If you looking for a quite evening meal with your family, then this is definitely not the place to come to. Since it was nearly 9 pm and we were just hungry, decided to go ahead with the dinner. Thankfully the service was quite fast. The hygeine is reasonable. The menu is not exhaustive and all the items mentioned were not readily available. Simple things like Lime fresh was not on the menu. We (group of 4) chose the classic chicken rumali shawarma, Jamaican Charcoal Chicken (half), Carribbean beef crunchy and kubbooz. Each of the items were well prepared and well presented. The taste was really good. We especially liked the Carribbean beef crunchy. It was quite different from stuff we have had before. The Jamaican Charcoal chicken was little spicy for our taste but was really good. Quite different taste from the conventional Alfaham. May be next time I would request to reduce the spice a bit! The shawarma was regular and had nothing special about it. The quantity was more than sufficient and we had significant amount of left overs that we got packed for home. The pricing is appropriate and probably is so keeping in mind the usual college crowd.
If you are looking for a quick but filling meal and are famished, this is definitely the place to come to. But if you wish to come as a family for some quality time over a dinner, absolutely avoid this place, as it will give you a migraine!!!
For the food, I am coming back again. But to the management, please make a separate dining area for families, it is surely going to boost...

Read moreCharcoal Shack Restaurant in Ernakulam offers a memorable dining experience with its delicious food and commendable service. During our visit, we tried their chicken shawarma and butter chicken, both of which were outstanding. The shawarma was flavorful, with tender, juicy chicken and a perfect blend of spices, while the butter chicken was rich and creamy, making it a delightful dish that truly satisfied our taste buds.
The restaurant’s service was another highlight of the visit. The staff were attentive and friendly, ensuring that our dining experience was smooth and enjoyable. They were prompt in taking orders and serving the food, adding to the overall positive experience.
However, when it comes to the ambiance, Charcoal Shack falls short. The place is just okay, lacking any distinct atmosphere or decor that would make it stand out. While it is clean and functional, it doesn’t offer the kind of cozy or unique environment that some might look for in a dining spot.
One significant drawback, though, is the pricing. The food is delicious, but it comes at a cost that feels quite steep. For a casual meal, the prices at Charcoal Shack are on the higher side, which might make it less appealing for those looking for a more budget-friendly dining option. In conclusion, while the food and service are commendable, the high prices and average ambiance may be a consideration for...
