Darbar Seafood Restaurant Kakkanad — Restaurant in Kerala

Went to this place last night and ordered chicken shawrma and alfaham. At first, we got a hair from shawarma, but we let it aside. Started eating and there was some foul smell, figured it out and it was the chicken that was rotten. Almost threw up and my friend tried it too, he got the smell too. Then again, got a hair strand from the Romali roti. So we called the guy who took our order. He said he'll check, and told the cook told it's not stale, and the chicken was bought at morning. Then we asked the cook to come, he stood there clueless and another guy started defending saying they have never got a complaint regarding quality, the proof was right in front of us. He then said nobody else has complained and we are the first ones. Then he started saying the owner is having it and hasn't complained. The foul smell started getting bad and they all smelled it and said it's how shawarma smells as if nobody else knows how shawarma smells like. Also, it was 12 am, so we asked is it because it's late, and they were like we run till 2 am. Wonder if they kept the food till 2 and how many people must have had it. We just wanted to let them know there was issue with the food, so it would help them and the people who would come for it. They agreed that the hair was their fault as it was inside this baked romali, or else they would've denied that also. No good food was given as replacement and didn't even reduce the bill amount. They all left somewhere inside. Filed a complaint under food and safety department as I could see other comments stating that they've been served stale food. Plus, the food was not hot too. Such a bad experience. Rectify this.😐😐

Adding this here after the owner's reply: I could find some people commenting that stale food was given to them. And about the complementary meal, this should have been done when we were there and not when a public review is posted.

Editing after three years seeing Real Arabia being shut down for bad food and people getting hospitalized. Contacted the below number and nobody responded. Happened to see they served bad food even after that incident. They were kind of forcing me to eat stale food. Even after food and safety department checking the restaurant at that time, they have served bad...

Ordered chicken (half) and beef biriyani Rs110 and Rs200 respectively. Both biriyani had a large quantity of food and meat pieces. Chicken biriyani tasted like a normal biriyani. But the taste of their beef biriyani was very different, I've never had such a pathetic biryani with a disgusting taste. I don't recommend anyone to order beef biryani from here. What's more sad is their attitude towards the customer once they convey that their food tasted awful. The waiter did convey what I've said to one of the managers (I believe) but she seemed not to acknowledge the waiter. Finally they gave me the bill with beef biriyani on it, which we never liked in the first place. If a customer brings up an issue kindly try to acknowledge and address it. We'll never go to this place ever.

Edit and Reply 29 Nov 22: Thank you very much for your prompt reply!!! A normal food doesn't mean it was bad but your beef biryani was bad. Once someone raises any concern about your food to the staff of yours and they simply seem to ignore you like nothing happened doesn't mean your staff isn't customer friendly. Well these were not the real issue with the food we had - it was with the beef biryani. Now you're also ignoring my concern with the beef biriyani why is that!!!...

I have visited this place for the first time. Its a good restaurant with an awesome ambience and good choice of music (old malayalam classics) in the background, which we've enjoyed a lot. They have different varieties of fish which was very fresh and tasty. A good recommended place for sea food lovers. Had fish alfaham for the first time and we have enjoyed it really well. The place was easy to commute, very neat and hygienic and also had good seating capacity with warm lights. The interior is quite beautiful and spacious. The service which they had offered was very appreciable. The staff's were very responsive and helpful and the service was also very fast. The place has also got an ample amount of parking space. We went there around 11pm, so its a good place for late night visits for good food. We a group of 3 friends ordered Fish (Kaayal Chemballi) Alfaham, Kera fish curry, Garlic naan bread, paal appam, beef roast, chicken curry and fresh lime. Every dish was good and tasty. Not much costly, worth the money. A must try place, overall had a great experience visiting the store. Will visit the restaurant...
