It was afternoon and we were on our way to the Thalssery railway station after completing our intended family visits and shopping. It was about 2:15 PM and we were feeling famished by now. This led to exploring the one year old restaurant named Duniyav. The driver was pretty excited as he'd he visiting it for the first time. And so were we. Already having watched couple of reels and youtube videos we were already expecting it to be good. With the expectation we entered the restaurant which had ample place for parking. We were welcomed by the staff who were helpful in finding us a comfortable seating. We were 7 of us. As soon as we seated ourselves we were served a refreshing shot of watermelon juice. This was very refreshing as it was pretty hot climate.
We then asked for the menu simultaneously asked for their recommendation. Chattiyum Chorum was the first recommendation along with other seafood, poultry, and beef preparations. We opted for Chattiyum Chorum which is similar to a thali but with local delicacies. Futher we order Kashmiri Naan which was sweetened bread with fruity flavor. Not much to our liking. We ordered the very famous Thalassery biryani. It was definitely good and worth trying.
We would wish to revisit it sometime in future to explore other delicacies. Meanwhile we were served with extra dose of watermelon juice shots at no cost and further also as part of their new year celebrations they gave us a lottery ticket. BTW we were the first one to get it as told to us bu the staff.
A good experience and definitely...
Read moreFirst visit today and discovered the place by sheer accident as I wanted to go to another restaurant near by which I used to frequent during my visits , this one looks very grand from outside and inside though not very opulent..I usually order for Meen mulagitathu whenever I go to a new restaurant and did the same here as well accompanied by Putty and parotta . The captain looked like he has "lost interest " and took a bit of a time to take my order . Verdict: the Meen mulagittathu ( seer fish) was served in a chatti with boiling curry with puttu and Parotta ..the puttu was soft , I expected the seer fish to a slice , but it was some 3 -4 chunks , sadly the curry was a disaster !! It was a overload of powdered masala and it was more like a fish masala than mulagittathu , the fish was stale and dis not taste like Seer fish at all.. it tasted as if it had been in through ice ages and probably chemically treated as well.. further this is the only place in Kerala where I had the worst parotta , it was like eating plastic , hard and dry ...overall the restaurant has failed the test to make it even to pass marks ..as for the bill it came to Rs 447 /- !!!..well one make mistakes only once ..never again ..I should have stuck to my original choice of the restaurant...
Read moreVisited duniyav today. When you enter the restaurant you will definitely feel like you are at a different space as it has a very different ambience comparing to other restaurants and it was overly crowded probably because it is a newly opened restaurant. To start off , it was very hard to go through the menu cause they came with funny names for each dish which is totally fine but it would have been better if they could have briefly explained what the dish was along with the names or staff could have helped in telling us. We first ordered chicken lollipop as starter and to my surprise, comparing to other places where lollipop is served piping hot , here it was very cold. Then we ordered tandoori chicken cause we didn't want to experiment much and to my disappointment it was served cold and it was too salty that I couldn't even have it..we also ordered Beef Raahath varattiyathu and dragon which weren't something amazing but was okay. We also tried to reach out to one of the staffs regarding the food so that they can improve it in the future but instead we got a very disappointing response , they weren't showing much interest to it. It was a disappointing experience in general..I hope they going forward...
