Raravis this time super disappointed. Reached tellichery at 2:00pm and we were hungry as it was lunch time and we decide to eat from tellichery. As I used to eat from Raravis before, I decided to eat from there and also told my family that they serve the best biriyani in town. They were offering in car dining. But unfortunately rain stopped us from having food there. So we took the food home. Was so very hungry as we ate lunch at 4:00pm.

Food#1 tellichery dum biriyani :- The best biriyani in tellichery proved to be the worst. It was made of leghorn chicken and meat was so hard that my grandma gave both pieces to me as she couldn't eat. If you think I was lucky, then you are wrong. With the 🍗, she gave me some real malayalam words and also told me not to buy food from that "hotel" in future. She don't know about Rara avis or MVK. For her all are "hotel" and I don't think she ever heard "restaurant" in her life. But she is good at making food and the best critic I know. Off course of Malabari food and of this century Kerala food like shawarma, Chinese, and alfam (malayalam for al faham) Now back to biriyani. It tasted really odd for a tellichery biriyani and was with less flavor and aroma. Normal restaurants nearby my place(kannur dharmasala) serves better biriyani than them. I don't know what happened to the chefs there who prepared food when I ate from them before. Food#2 chicken Fried Rice:- As my family consists of some young members who prefered Chinese than biriyani bought fried rice. As the biriyani and the hype collapsed like house of cards and I was looking for something good to eat, I turned to my youngest "fried rice" sister to ask for a share and she who I thought will rage at me like a sivakami devi casually and with great disappointment in her face told me to eat the balance on the aluminum box which was like more than half. Only ketchup was given as side dish and normal items like soya sauce, chilly vinegar was missing. The fried rice was salty. Without soya sauce and vinegar, it didn't taste good and that reasons my sister being kaviyoor ponnamma than sivakami devi. As I didnt eat from the restaurant, I can't comment on the service part but I must mention the staffs who were working in the car park to provide the parcels did an excellent job as it was raining and they were running from car to car serving the food. Rar Avis, Kudos to your management for providing innovative solutions like in car dining at this time. And the staffs in the parking lot does a good job running from car to car. But we need good food. We are normal people who expect that you 'branded restaurant' give us superior food than our local village restaurants. We drive, travel in bus to your restaurant on a special occasion or when we get bonuses or when we think of treating our family or friends once in a while thinking that we will get something better than normal. Something extra ordinary. Don't disappoint us. Don't make the person who took people there to eat a 'fool' in front of their family or friends.

No photos this time as hunger made me a monster than a...

Updated Review: 4.9/5 Stars ( 16.09.2025)11.20 PM)

I'm thrilled to share my latest experience at Rara Avis, and it's even more special this time around! My family and I visited again today, and we were treated to a new dish that the senior staff highly recommended – Lemon Paneer. I must say, it's a game-changer! The moment we took a bite, we knew we had to give it a glowing review. The flavors were spot on, and the variety was impressive. My wife and kids absolutely loved it, and I could see the excitement in their eyes.

The food, as always, was outstanding, with each dish expertly prepared and presented. The service remained top-notch, with friendly and attentive staff who went above and beyond to ensure our needs were met. The ambiance was warm and inviting, making for a wonderful dining atmosphere.

I'm also delighted to see that Rara Avis has addressed my previous concern about accessibility! They've installed an elevator, making it much easier for elderly or mobility-impaired individuals to access the restaurant. Kudos to the management for taking this step towards inclusivity.

Overall, I highly recommend Rara Avis for its culinary excellence, exceptional service, and now, improved accessibility. The Lemon Paneer is a must-try, and I'm sure it will become a favorite among regulars. If you're a Thalassery food lover like me, Rara Avis is definitely the spot to visit.

Rating Breakdown:

Food: 4.9/5 (Lemon Paneer was a highlight!) Service: 4.9/5 Ambiance: 4.8/5 Accessibility: 5/5 (Excellent improvement!)

Recommendation: A must-visit for foodies, especially Thalassery cuisine enthusiasts! Don't miss the Lemon Paneer, and enjoy the hassle-free...

I had the pleasure of dining at Rara Avis in Thalasseri, Kannur, and I can confidently say that it is one of the best restaurants I have ever been to. The food on focus- Thalasseri biriyani and Kallummakai fry- were nothing short of outstanding.

The Thalasseri biriyani was a standout dish, with perfectly cooked rice and flavorful spices that blended together beautifully. The tender and succulent meat added to the overall flavor and experience of the biriyani. It was truly a taste sensation that left me craving for more.

The Kallummakai fry was also an exceptional dish that exceeded all expectations. The mussels were fresh and cooked to perfection, with a crispy coating that was perfectly seasoned. The dish was perfectly accompanied by the zesty sauce that added an extra dimension of flavor.

The service at Rara Avis was exceptional, with friendly and attentive staff who went out of their way to make sure that my dining experience was flawless. The ambiance was also lovely, with a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere that made it the perfect place to enjoy a meal.

The prices at Rara Avis were also very reasonable, considering the high quality of the food and service. It was evident that the chefs and staff took great pride in the food they served, and it truly showed in the overall experience.

Overall, I highly recommend Rara Avis in Thalasseri, Kannur, for anyone looking for an outstanding dining experience. The Thalasseri biriyani and Kallummakai fry are must-try dishes, and the service and ambiance make it a truly exceptional...

Extremely Disappointing Experience – A Far Cry from Its Former Glory This used to be one of the best restaurants in Thalassery during my childhood, a place we used to look forward to visiting. However, my recent visit with family to the newly renovated floor was nothing short of a disaster. We began by ordering soup as starters, followed by fried rice, noodles, and chilli chicken for the main course. Right from the start, the service was careless—an incorrect dish was served to us, which was then taken away without a word of apology or explanation. This set the tone for the rest of the evening. The soup that was eventually served was shockingly substandard, with a jelly-like texture and undissolved thick lumps inside. Upon questioning the staff, we received no response whatsoever. They casually brushed it off as "sweet corn," but it was clearly inedible and poorly prepared. (I've attached a photo as evidence.) To make matters worse, the chilli chicken was undercooked and unsafe to eat. When we brought this to the staff's attention, there was no concern, no apology, and absolutely no attempt to address our dissatisfaction. The staff’s complete lack of empathy and disregard for basic customer service was appalling. This was one of the worst dining experiences I’ve ever had. It's disheartening to see such a reputable place fall to this level. We will never return, and I would strongly advise others to think twice before dining here.

Raravis is a fantastic spot for anyone who enjoys delicious food paired with quick and efficient service. From the moment we walked in, the staff was attentive and prompt and our orders were taken and served without delay. We tried the Egg Fried Rice, which was flavorful and perfectly cooked. The Kadak Paneer was another highlight it was crispy on the outside, tender inside, and packed with flavor. The Nei Pathal and Chicken Curry combo really stood out which was rich, aromatic, and absolutely satisfying. Overall, Raravis offers great food, excellent service, and a warm dining experience. Definitely worth a visit! Rararavis – Consistently Excellent! As always, the food at Rararavis was top-notch. It's great to see that they've opened a new floor to accommodate more guests. The new space is elegant, with beautiful lighting that adds a classy touch. The overall atmosphere is warm, inviting, and very clean — definitely adds to the dining experience. Tried a new starter they launched just two days ago — Thai Spiced Chicken — and it was excellent. Also had some of our favorites: Paneer Pentagon Egg Fried Rice Chicken Varattiyath Prawn Mango Curry Ney Pathal Appam Tandoori Every dish was flavorful and well-prepared. Rararavis continues to impress both with their food and ambiance. Highly recommended!

While the ambience was passable, the food quality and taste fell below expectations. One of the standout disappointments was the chicken pentagon gravy. The chicken in the dish did not appear to be fresh, raising concerns about the overall freshness and quality of the ingredients used. The suspect freshness of the chicken in the pentagon gravy further detracted from the overall dining experience. Similarly, the chicken 65 was average at best, failing to impress with its flavor and texture. It lacked the desired crispness and succulence that one would expect from this popular dish. The lagoon biriyani, although not terrible, was merely okay. It lacked the depth of flavors and aromatic appeal that distinguishes a truly memorable biriyani. It fell short of providing a satisfying culinary experience. Overall, the food quality and taste were below average, failing to meet my expectations. I hope the management takes these concerns seriously and works towards improving the quality of their ingredients and the taste of their dishes. With necessary improvements, this establishment has the potential to provide a more enjoyable dining experience for its customers.
