The kind of place that aren't covered by gourmet shows or articles but that have been the landmarks of a city. French bakery has been in it's place for a while, their old repainted refrigerator and the crowd that gathers there after 4 pm for tea and cutlet is testimony to their vintage. Unassuming Ambience but good food. Average pricing. Some of the softest cupcakes and slice cakes that you can get in town. Their cutlet, chicken omlette and liver fry are a must try. All if their cakes are worth the calories and can be washed down with good tea that is served here. If you want to try their fruit cake then better to come after 7pm. Ample parking space...

I just happen to have only their cutlets, it was really good though a bit expensive. Don't get concerned about the decor of the place, you will definitely love the cutlets. Today when I went to this place, I felt it is currently being run by one person, so get ready for slight delay in serving, That person was very friendly too, he was ready to give me credit for some amount since we both were out of change though we never knew each other and I have no clue when I would be visiting here again. French Bakery - The iconic bakery near Kozhikode Beach that evokes nostalgia in youngsters from the 80s.

We walked into what we are guessing is the first 'Cafe' of its kind for our evening cup of chaaya and kadis.

1. The Chicken Cutlet with its crispy crust and bites of chicken wrapped in a very tasty masala mix - might be our most favourite in the city and was the highlight of our day.
2. The tea was strong and refreshing (also, good quantity).
3. The samosa wasn't that great. But, that didn't bother us .

Note to self - Make frequent evening stops at French Bakery because good chaya + amazing...
