My recent visit to Sufi Mandhi in Calicut left me with mixed feelings about the dining experience. While the ambiance and service maintained their standard charm, I couldn't help but notice a decline in the overall taste, especially when compared to previous visits.
The disappointment started with the taste of the Mandhi itself; it seemed like the flavors had lost some of their richness. The aromatic blend of spices that used to tantalize the taste buds appeared subdued, and the dish failed to leave a lasting impression. It's disheartening when a once-flavorful dish loses its essence.
The rice, a crucial component of any Mandhi, was overcooked on this occasion. The grains lacked the distinct texture that makes Mandhi a delightful experience. The overcooking might have been an isolated incident, but it significantly impacted the overall enjoyment of the meal.
Another drawback was the seemingly never-ending waiting time. Patience is a virtue, but the lengthy wait tested even the most patient diners. It left us wondering if the kitchen was facing challenges or if it was an issue with their service efficiency. Regardless, a prolonged wait can diminish the appetite and dampen the dining experience.
Parking, or rather the lack of a dedicated parking lot, posed an additional inconvenience. The absence of a designated space meant circling the vicinity in search of a spot, adding an unnecessary hassle to the dining outing. It's an aspect that, if addressed, could greatly enhance the overall convenience for patrons.
Despite these drawbacks, it's important to note that Sufi Mandhi in Calicut has had its moments of culinary brilliance in the past. Perhaps this visit was an outlier, and improvements could be made to bring back the delightful flavors that once made it a favorite dining spot. The establishment may want to consider addressing the issues of overcooked rice, lengthy waiting times, and the absence of a parking lot to ensure a more pleasant dining experience for...
Read moreOne of the best place in town to have Mandi. They provide the best yemeni cuisines. The place is located on the way to beach. So you can have food from here and go to beach afterwards. The place has good parking facilities and their staffs will take care of the parking procedures. We have to just hand them the key. The place is highly crowded for lunch and you will have to wait for 30-40mins. I have tried green chilli alfahm, honey chilli alfahm, kashmiri alfahm and pepper alfahm from here. It was the first time I was eating honey chilli alfahm. As I am not a sweet lover, I didnt like it due to the sweet taste. I liked the Kashmiri Alfahm more. In green chilly, there was just an outer coating of green chilly paste, no flavour inside. Pepper alfahm was spicy and tasted good. The mandi rice was good, and was served hot and tasted delicious. The staffs and enployees are highly disciplined and well mannered. There is also majlis setup on the first floor. Eventhough they have good seating facilities, you will have to wait for some time to find a place to sit here during the lunch time. So a very good place to try out the mandi if you are willing to wait for some time. Talking out prices, it is very economical. It costs 190 Rs for any varient of Alfahm with unlimited mandhi rice. There are many other items available in the menu rather than alfahm and mandhi. Beef and mutton mandhi also available here. Chicken madhooth, chicken madfoon, tikka, naan, rotti also available. You can also find variants...
Read moreI recently visited this restaurant after hearing many people recommend it. I tried two dishes – the Beef Mandi and the Honey Chilli Mandi. Both were really good. The beef was soft, well-cooked, and had a nice flavor without being too oily or heavy. The rice was tasty and served in a big portion, enough for two people. It came with sides like mayonnaise, chutney, and salad, which made the meal even better.
The Honey Chilli Mandi also tasted good. It had a sweet and spicy flavour that was enjoyable. The chicken was cooked well, and the mix of flavours was different from the usual mandi taste. It felt like a nice twist on the classic dish. If you like a little bit of sweetness with a slight kick, this one is worth trying.
The restaurant itself was clean and looked simple. It’s not fancy, but it’s a comfortable place to sit and eat with friends or family. The staff were friendly and served the food quickly, even though the place was quite busy. That’s one thing to keep in mind—the restaurant is almost always crowded. If you’re coming during dinner hours, you might have to wait a bit for a table or share space with others.
Both the dishes I tried were tasty and satisfying. The food quality is good and worth the price. But the place is usually crowded, so plan your visit accordingly. If you’re okay with waiting or eating in a busy place, you’ll enjoy...
