I recently had the unfortunate opportunity to dine at Kerala Cafe in Varkala, and I must say, my experience left much to be desired. From the moment I walked in, I couldn't shake the feeling of disappointment.
First and foremost, the prices on the menu were shockingly high for what was offered. I expected an authentic culinary experience, but what I received was far from it. The prices seemed to be inflated without any justification in terms of taste or quality. I left the restaurant with a bitter taste in my mouth, and not just from the food.
Speaking of taste, the food was lackluster at best. I ordered a dish that was supposedly a local specialty, but it fell flat in terms of flavor and presentation. The ingredients seemed lackluster, and I couldn't help but feel like I could have prepared a better meal myself at a fraction of the cost.
The biggest disappointment, however, was the customer service or rather, the lack thereof. The staff appeared disinterested and unengaged, making the already overpriced meal even harder to swallow. It seemed as if they were doing me a favor by serving me, rather than genuinely valuing my patronage.
All in all, my experience at Kerala Cafe was far from enjoyable. The high prices, lackluster food, and poor customer service left me with a feeling of regret. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone seeking an authentic or enjoyable dining experience. There are far better options available in Varkala that offer better value and more...
Read moreMy recent had very bad dining experience at the restaurant was nothing short of a disaster. The food was a major disappointment, almost tried everything nothing. The quality of these dishes was extremely poor and staff behaviour is also rude.
The rice was overcooked and mushy, lacking any hint of proper seasoning. The sambar was thin and watery, with barely any vegetables and an unappealing taste. The fish fry was greasy, over-fried, and tasted stale, indicating that it was not freshly prepared. As for the biryani, it was a disaster. The rice was undercooked and clumpy, and the flavors were bland and unimpressive. The overall presentation and taste of these dishes were far from what I expected.
To make matters worse, the service was slow and unattentive. The staff indifferent to our concerns about the quality of the food, and there was a lack of proper hygiene and cleanliness in the dining area.
It was a waste of our time and money, and I would not recommend this place to anyone looking for a satisfying meal. Save yourself the disappointment and look elsewhere for better food options in varkala kerala

Read moreThe place was quite the contrary to expectations. We ordered Dosa Sambar and they served it cold. When asked why the sambar was cold, they took the dish and didn't come back at all. Then when they were reminded about Sambar they again served it cold. We are not from the Southern state and hence tried speaking with the staff in Hindi and English. The staff serving us the Sambar kept speaking to us in Malayalam. On telling him that we don't understand the language, he started blabbering in Malayalam and walked away gesturing that we eat what they have served. In the meantime we had even ordered another dish, which these guys conveniently forgot to serve. And this is mentioned because there was no other customer in the restaurant apart from us. All in all it was a pathetic experience at the restaurant. If people want tourists to come to their place then they cannot expect to force their language on the tourist. This is unacceptable. If they cannot learn to be hospitable, then they are in the wrong line of the business. Giving a 1 star rating is only because there is no option for anything below this. Shameful behavior. Wouldn't recommend this sham of a...
