Clafouti Restaurant in Varkala Cliff is not just a place to dine; it's a haven where emotions intertwine with gastronomy, creating an experience that transcends the boundaries of mere nourishment. From the first moment you set foot in this culinary sanctuary, you are greeted with a sense of enchantment that lingers throughout your entire visit.

The passionate team behind Clafouti is a testament to the power of genuine hospitality. Their love for their craft is palpable in every interaction, as they guide you through the menu with enthusiasm and knowledge. They take the time to understand your preferences, ensuring that each dish is a personal journey tailored to your desires.

The menu itself is a masterpiece, showcasing a fusion of global influences with a touch of local flair. From mouthwatering seafood delicacies to delectable vegetarian creations, every dish tells a story. The chefs' expertise shines through in their ability to balance flavors, creating symphonies of taste that leave you craving for more.

One standout dish that captured my heart was their signature seafood curry. The medley of spices, the freshness of the catch, and the richness of the creamy coconut broth came together in perfect harmony. It was a dance of flavors that transported me to the coastal villages where fishermen gather their daily treasures.

For those seeking vegetarian delights, the roasted vegetable platter is an absolute must-try. The medley of vibrant, farm-fresh vegetables, roasted to perfection, was a celebration of nature's bounty. Each bite was a revelation, showcasing the chef's creativity and mastery in transforming humble ingredients into culinary delights.

But Clafouti goes beyond the realms of food alone. The ambiance of the restaurant is an enchanting blend of rustic charm and understated elegance. Soft lighting, natural materials, and a thoughtful layout create an intimate atmosphere that invites conversation and connection. It is a place where you can escape the outside world and immerse yourself in the magic of the present moment.

And let's not forget the breathtaking views. Situated on Varkala Cliff, Clafouti offers panoramic vistas of the azure Arabian Sea. As you savor your meal, the rhythmic sound of waves crashing against the cliffs serenades your senses, adding a touch of poetry to your dining experience. It is a feast for the eyes that complements the feast for the palate.

Clafouti Restaurant in Varkala Cliff is an embodiment of culinary passion and heartfelt hospitality. It is a place where flavors come alive, where memories are created, and where you can't help but feel an overwhelming sense of gratitude for the simple joys in life. Whether you're seeking a romantic dinner, a gathering with friends, or a solitary escape, Clafouti will embrace you with open arms and leave an everlasting imprint...

Clafouti Resort and Restaurant is a charming establishment located on Varkala Beach, a scenic coastal destination in Kerala, India. This resort and restaurant combination offers a delightful experience for visitors seeking a serene beachfront getaway combined with excellent dining options.

The resort itself is designed with a blend of traditional Kerala architecture and contemporary aesthetics. Its well-appointed rooms and cottages provide uncomfortable accommodations without any modern amenities. From private balconies of few overpriced rooms, guests can enjoy view of the Arabian Sea or the lush tropical gardens surrounding the property. The resort doesn't have any other facilities, including a swimming pool and hospitality is poor.

One of the highlights of Clafouti Resort is its on-site restaurant. The restaurant serves as a culinary haven, specializing in delectable dishes inspired by local and international flavors. Whether you're craving traditional Kerala cuisine, fresh seafood, or international delicacies, the restaurant caters to diverse palates. With an emphasis on using locally sourced ingredients, the chefs create flavorful dishes that celebrate the region's rich culinary heritage.

The dining experience at Clafouti Resort and Restaurant is further enhanced by its inviting ambiance. The restaurant features an open-air setting, allowing guests to relish their meals while enjoying the gentle sea breeze and panoramic views. The attentive staff adds to the overall experience, providing warm hospitality and personalized service.

Varkala Beach itself is renowned for its natural beauty. It is known for its dramatic cliffs, golden sands, and azure waters. Guests at Clafouti Resort have direct access to this picturesque beach, making it convenient for leisurely walks, sunbathing, or simply admiring the breathtaking vistas.

Beyond the resort and beach, Varkala offers a range of activities and attractions. Visitors can explore the nearby Janardhana Swamy Temple, known for its ancient architecture and religious significance. Adventure enthusiasts can partake in water sports such as surfing and parasailing, or embark on a boat ride to explore the backwaters and...

I stayed at Clafouti resort and literally had all my meals for two days here. Firstly it is to be noted that the place (resort) has over 3 Trillion review because of their restaurant, which I found to be the best in the cliff area. Review about the stay posted separately.

Restaurant : As I mentioned initially, the restaurant seems to be the best on the cliff area! It is run completely by people from Darjeeling and nearby states and the food tastes good. The evenings are super busy and the view from the 1st floor is breathtaking. Dishes I tried : Breakfast combo, Noodles, Chicken Masala, Tandoori Roti, Spring Roll (excess oily), Fried Rice, Chicken Manchurian, Mango Lassi (perfect), Chicken Momo (perfect). Alcoholic Drinks available as well for decent price. Considering the rush, the staff manage the work quite well. Do not expect special treatment though, as the “Hi Hello” seemed reserved only for foreign nationals (same in most of the commercial places in Varkala). The place is in high demand owing to the view as well which I felt was even better than Darjeeling Cafe which is few stores away.

A BIG LET DOWN - AFTER 6 PM (Evening to Night) THEY DO NOT LET INDIAN TOURISTS TO OCCUPY THE FRONT ROW OF THE FIRST FLOOR on the pretext of ‘Reserved’. I overheard one staff responding to an Indian family who like me noticed that foreigners were immediately taken to those tables and complained to the staff “Foreigners jyada time and lamba baith ta hai.” Basically it was about the restaurant getting more profit. And this was a big turn off for me during the trip, more because I was staying there and had all my meals there. It kind of felt humiliating.

Ignoring the only negative point above, this place is definitely a must go place! Will be sharing my experiences and videos in upcoming vlogs. So do follow champak_Sharma on youtube and...

January 2024: 🛑👉CHECK YOUR BILL, TO SEE IF YOU'VE BEEN OVERCHARGED.👈🛑 MY ORIGINAL REVIEW : "The view from the balcony is stunning. The food is good, and the prices are reasonable. But what I appreciate the most is the excellent service. 👍 5 Stars ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐" MY EDITED REVIEW: I've been there twice now, and BOTH TIMES I've been overcharged. The first time, I was overcharged by Rs 100, and I thought it was a mistake. But I was overcharged again today, this time by Rs 50. Both times, I contested the bill against the menu, and they politely fixed it with zero arguments and no hassles. I got Rs 80 back the first time, and Rs 40 back the second time... Despite the lack of drama with fixing the overcharging, I'm not sure what's going on with this overcharging, overall, since maybe it's just my bad luck that it happened to me twice. Having said that, I'm not going back to this restaurant, despite the good budget food and the great service, SINCE I'm not okay with being overcharged so consistently (even if by mistake). If you're running a restaurant, it's best you invest in good accounting and billing practices. And if the overcharging is on purpose, it's best to avoid this place. (It's interesting that I was overcharged on several items, during both meals, but NEVER once UNDERcharged. ⚡🛑CHECK YOUR BILL.🛑⚡ Conclusion: The food is good, the service is great, the view is stunning. So, I don't want to be unfair, and despite the billing issues on both visits, I give them: 3 Stars ⭐⭐⭐, overall.
