Read moreI stayed at Clafouti resort and literally had all my meals for two days here. Firstly it is to be noted that the place (resort) has over 3 Trillion review because of their restaurant, which I found to be the best in the cliff area. Review about the stay posted separately.
Restaurant : As I mentioned initially, the restaurant seems to be the best on the cliff area! It is run completely by people from Darjeeling and nearby states and the food tastes good. The evenings are super busy and the view from the 1st floor is breathtaking. Dishes I tried : Breakfast combo, Noodles, Chicken Masala, Tandoori Roti, Spring Roll (excess oily), Fried Rice, Chicken Manchurian, Mango Lassi (perfect), Chicken Momo (perfect). Alcoholic Drinks available as well for decent price. Considering the rush, the staff manage the work quite well. Do not expect special treatment though, as the “Hi Hello” seemed reserved only for foreign nationals (same in most of the commercial places in Varkala). The place is in high demand owing to the view as well which I felt was even better than Darjeeling Cafe which is few stores away.
A BIG LET DOWN - AFTER 6 PM (Evening to Night) THEY DO NOT LET INDIAN TOURISTS TO OCCUPY THE FRONT ROW OF THE FIRST FLOOR on the pretext of ‘Reserved’. I overheard one staff responding to an Indian family who like me noticed that foreigners were immediately taken to those tables and complained to the staff “Foreigners jyada time and lamba baith ta hai.” Basically it was about the restaurant getting more profit. And this was a big turn off for me during the trip, more because I was staying there and had all my meals there. It kind of felt humiliating.
Ignoring the only negative point above, this place is definitely a must go place! Will be sharing my experiences and videos in upcoming vlogs. So do follow champak_Sharma on youtube and...
