Today, we visited Namma Veedu Vasantha Bhavan at the Kuravankonam branch for lunch, but the experience fell short of our expectations.
The service felt somewhat distant, with minimal engagement from the waitstaff. Our orders were brought to the table with little interaction, giving the experience a rather impersonal feel.
We ordered a mix vegetable noodles for the kids, though it was quite bland and lacked flavor, leaving it largely untouched. My wife and I opted for the thali meals, which had an impressive presentation. The meal was beautifully laid out, with a generous variety of stainless-steel bowls filled with different dishes that made the meal visually inviting. It included a chapathi, Keerai Masiyal, a yam-based poriyal, two other varieties of poriyal (which were particularly enjoyable), a tangy sambar, pulishery, rasam, a large bowl of rice, a pickle, a big applam, a payasam, and a sweet (likely a laddu). While the thali was well-crafted and thoughtfully varied, the flavors overall were more subtle than anticipated.
Another notable issue at this branch is the bathroom setup. The restroom is located downstairs, quite a distance from the main dining area, which could be challenging for elderly patrons or those with mobility concerns. Additionally, there is only a single wash basin in the dining area, leading to wait times during peak hours.
Given the brand’s reputation and pricing, we expected a higher standard of both food quality and customer service. The thali setup itself was appealing, though, and with some added attention to flavor, accessibility, and service, this branch has the potential to offer a more...
Read moreWent here for a breakfast cum discussion with a client. Ordered 3 ghee roast, 2 coffee 1 tea 1 masal dosa and vada. The food was just mediocre and the service was pathetic. They were soo eager to take our order. They served vada first and made us wait for a long time for dosa(yes they make vada and keep stock but we asked it along with dosa). Then they first served masal dosa and made us wait for 5mnts for ghee rost. Then they served only 2 ghee roast and we again waited for the last one for atleast 10mnts. Then someone came and asked us if we want anything else. This was totally irritating and unprofessional for a restaurant waiting to first write down the order and still miss items. Its really awkward for others to eat when someone is waiting for his food. Mean time i asked them to bring the tea. They delayed that too by 10mnts. They totally ruined the dining...
Read moreI did have to contemplate on whether this place deserves a 3 or 4 star... Here's why...
Hit this place for breakfast as we passed by. Since it was just the two of us, and the place was still under a trial run, and it being 10 in the morning, we could not try out some of their unique offerings.
However we did the normal Ghee Masala Dosa and Onion Rava Dosa... The Onion Rava Dosa was exceptionally well done, and no complaints on the Ghee Masala Dosa as well... The accompanied chutneys were also really good... But then the Sambar was a bit of a let down.
Since the earlier establishment of Ali Express is now venturing with Vasantha Bhavan, the menu still includes the Ali Express offerings.
And I'm sure to be back to try their new offerings of Veg Maki roll, Mushroom Fry etc to gauge them in actuality, and hoping that they deliver the 4 star or...
