Nestled in the heart of culinary delight, this charming eatery was unveiled to me through the gracious recommendation of my esteemed colleague, Aswathy. Her thoughtful suggestion opened the doors to a dining experience that transcended mere satisfaction, ushering in a realm of wholesome indulgence and joyous discovery.
From the moment I crossed the threshold, I was enveloped in an aura of warmth and positivity, emanating from the delightful old couple who preside over every aspect of this establishment. Read moreLet me begin by saying that this place is strictly a restaurant for Old People (60^). The reason being they lack enthusiasm to experiment or take risk. I have been to many such places that uses very less to no spices and some even raw food who managed to put life in food by going the extra mile to take risk. I've even had such places serve experimental dishes free of cost just to get feedback. Here they have kept everything to bare minimum. Went there one afternoon when they had just meals. It had rice, 1 curry, few side dishes and something that was called 'soup' by them. I personally hated everything except the honey amla that was served at the end. My aunt who was with me did say that since she has digestive issues, the food was good for her. I asked if she enjoyed the food to which she replied a plain No. They do use all organic products and no sugar and kept everything to a bare minimum, a bit too minimum. Other than that, the place was not well lit. The wash area was way too congested. The chair was not cleaned as few drops of some curry or juse was still on it probably from a previous customer. They do have a store attached that sold lots of organic products and few books. The guy at the counter himself is an author of few of them. The place is on the first floor that's lead by quite a narrow step which many old people will find quite challenging to climb. Parking space is available for both 2 and 4 wheeler. I really hope they improve on the recipe and add something...

I recently visited Patthayam after nearly 13 years - we had first dined here back in 2012 when the restaurant was located at Statue. To my delight, the experience was just as amazing, if not better!
Patthayam is a haven for anyone who is health-conscious or looking to enjoy nutritious food without compromising on taste. Their approach to food is both thoughtful and scientific. The meal begins with enzyme-activating ingredients like fresh cut fruits, sprouts, etc. - a great way to kickstart and trigger digestion. This is followed by a warm, comforting vegetable soup, and then the main course, which is cooked without masalas yet remains absolutely delicious. Each bite feels light, wholesome, and full of vitality.
They offer various affordable packages including millet-based meals, chambavari rice options, and healthy combos. In addition to the meals, they also have a great selection of healthy snacks, bakery items, organic homegrown vegetables, and a few essential grocery items - making it a complete wellness stop.
And of course, a special mention to Dr. Gangadharan, the visionary behind Patthayam. He truly needs no introduction. It was heartening to see him again, still as radiant and full of energy as he was 13 years ago. May he continue to serve society with such nutritious and healing food for many more years to come.
Highly recommend Patthayam to anyone who values mindful eating and real...
