Salkara Restaurant in Govindapuram is already a well-known name among foodies in Calicut, being a sister concern of the famous Paragon group. Conveniently located near MIMS hospital, it’s a great spot to grab a bite. But, a heads up—parking can be a hassle. If the tiny lot is full, you’re stuck with street parking on the busy road. I tried their Appams with Paneer Pachamulaku (green chilli), and it was insanely delicious! The paneer was super soft, and the curry had just the right amount of spice to give it a proper kick. The flavors were spot on, and I couldn’t get enough of it. The staff was friendly and warm, though it seemed like they were a bit short-handed. One server was juggling multiple tables, so it took a bit longer for orders to be taken. Also, the place was a bit of a hangout for flies and mosquitoes, something the management should really look into, especially in these times. Other than that, the restaurant had a nice and cozy vibe. I’ll definitely be coming back for that paneer again!

Really really good food! So many points to cover 1) We don’t speak Malayalam, but the staff was still able to communicate with us with Hindi/English and they really made an effort so that was highly appreciated. The staff is very friendly and welcoming. 2) The food was just so good! Our first day we had 3 meals there and everything was excellent. Everything had so much flavor and was very tasty. Including the chai and masala buttermilk. 3) Our second day there I had asked for an item at breakfast, which apparently they had run out of because of a morning Zomato order. I was a little disappointed as my biggest pet peeve is when restaurants don’t have what they offer on the menu, but I had asked for a substitute for the item and they gave that without any question and said they would make sure they would have it for me the next day. 4) If you stay at the Glitz Inn, breakfast at Salkara is included! 5) Very reasonable prices Highly recommend this!

Salkara have multiple branches in calicut. I went to the one near to Aster MIMS Hospital. We tried a half portion of chicken Biriyani as we couldn't have the full portion as we feared the food might get wasted. The Biriyani was excellent, it was leghorn chicken. So had much better flavor imo. Both the rice and chicken were well cooked and were soft and flavorful. Sides like pickle, curd salad, were also nice. Pappadam wasn't upto the mark, it wasn't a good quality product. The Biriyani masala had great spice flavor. But the Masala quantity was on the higher side. Maybe they accidently put it for full portion. Not an issue though. What was an issue though was their centralized AC. it had good cooling but didn't seem to be maintained properly as water droplets were constantly getting sprayed over in some places. Not sure what all health hazards are await. Please rectify the issue.

My recent dining experience at Salkara Restaurant left me with a generally positive impression, primarily due to the palatable quality of their food. The dishes I sampled were flavorful and well-prepared, suggesting a commendable focus on taste within their culinary offerings. This aspect undoubtedly contributes significantly to the restaurant's appeal and is a key factor in considering a return visit.

Furthermore, the strategic location of Salkara Restaurant is a notable advantage, particularly for individuals visiting or working at Aster MIMS Calicut. The convenience of its walkable distance from the hospital cannot be overstated, offering an easily accessible dining option without the need for transportation. This proximity is especially beneficial for patients, their families, and hospital staff seeking a nearby place to eat.

However, my experience was not without a minor inconvenience. During my visit, which appeared to coincide with a peak dining period, I encountered a noticeable waiting time before being seated. While this is often indicative of a popular establishment, the delay did slightly detract from the overall experience. It suggests that Salkara Restaurant experiences periods of high demand, which can lead to temporary congestion and waiting times for patrons seeking a table.

Despite this temporary setback, the positive aspects of Salkara Restaurant, namely the satisfying taste of the food and its convenient location near a major landmark like Aster MIMS Calicut, remain significant. For those prioritizing culinary enjoyment and accessibility, especially in relation to the hospital, Salkara presents a viable dining choice. While prospective diners should be aware of the potential for waiting times during busy hours, the quality of the food and the ease of access make it a restaurant worth considering in the vicinity. Perhaps future visits during off-peak times might mitigate this...

I recently dined here and had a rather frustrating experience with their Mango Fish Curry. I ended up feeling cheated and disappointed.

Upon placing my order, I explicitly requested a half portion of Mango Fish Curry, which I expected to be priced at ₹240. The server acknowledged my request. However, when the bill arrived, I was shocked to see that I was charged ₹480 for the curry.

When I brought this to the attention of the staff, the server responded with arrogance, insisting that I had ordered one full portion and not the half portion I had specifically asked for. This blatant disregard for my request left me feeling deceived.

Moreover, the dish itself was unsatisfactory. The Mango Fish Curry consisted of only one fish piece, which was inexplicably cut in half. The quantity was barely enough for 2 people.

As a customer, I believe it is essential to receive what I order and be charged accordingly. This experience has left a bitter taste in my mouth. It is disappointing to encounter such dishonest practices in an otherwise reputable establishment.

My experience was marred by the lack of integrity in the service and pricing. I would advise others to exercise caution when dining at this restaurant and ensure that their orders are accurately taken and priced. As for me, I am left with a sense of dissatisfaction and a desire to seek culinary...
