I’ve visited Topform Restaurant twice recently, and while the overall experience has been positive, there was a noticeable inconsistency that I feel is worth mentioning.
On my first visit, I ordered their chicken biriyani, and honestly, it was amazing. The rice was perfectly cooked — fluffy and full of aroma. The spices were spot on, and the chicken was juicy, flavorful, and clearly marinated well. Everything felt fresh and well-prepared, and it was served piping hot. I left the restaurant super satisfied and immediately knew I’d come back again. That first plate of biriyani made a lasting impression.
Encouraged by that great first experience, I came back a few days later and — of course — ordered the chicken biriyani again. Unfortunately, this time it didn’t hit the same. The biriyani was served lukewarm, which already killed a bit of the excitement. The flavor wasn’t as rich as before, and the chicken felt dry and less tender. It honestly tasted like it had been sitting out for a while or not freshly made. I was quite disappointed because I had been looking forward to it so much after the first time.
That said, not everything was a letdown. I also ordered the beef roast with parotta, and it was absolutely fantastic. The beef was cooked perfectly — tender and spicy, with a thick masala that paired beautifully with their soft, flaky parottas. It’s one of those classic Kerala combos, and Topform does it really well. I also tried the squid roast, which had a lovely balance of flavor — not too overpowering, with just the right amount of heat and masala. The squid was cooked nicely, not rubbery at all, which can be tricky.
To finish off the meal, I had a lemon juice, and it really hit the spot. Super refreshing and just the thing I needed after all the heavy spices. It gave a clean, satisfying end to the meal.
In short, Topform definitely knows how to deliver on taste, especially when it comes to their roast dishes and parottas. The only reason I’m giving 4 stars instead of 5 is the inconsistency in their biriyani — going from fantastic to underwhelming within two visits is a bit concerning. Still, I’d go back, probably for their beef and squid dishes more than the biriyani.
Hope they work on consistency because the potential here is...
Read moreIt was my first time to their outlet near Calicut MIMS Hosptital. Time was around 4 PM and the restaurant was pretty much vacant with two or three other families.
Tried their Lagon Biriyani and Chicken Kakkan. The Chicken Biriyani was upto the mark. Chicken was tender and juicy. The lesser quantity of rice compared to the masala was a cause of disappointment. Chicken Kakkan was slightly on the saltier side for me, but it tasted good.
The wash area is tiny and congested with only two basins . For a restaurant with this much seating capacity, wash area could have been better with more...
