Located a stone's throw away from the Vytilla Mobility Hub is the "Shaap Food" restaurant which aims to serve its patrons the exact type of food that is served in Toddy Shops, fondly called "Shaap". The unique decor aspect would be the extensive use of thatched leaves and bamboo blinds, possibly to mimic the thatched interiors of the typical toddy shop. There is also outdoor seating with three eight-seater tables, each with an umbrella-shaped roof housing LED strips at the edges. These look appealing after dark. The outdoor area also has two swings for children and adventurous adults. The main seating area has space for about 20 and is furnished with tables and long benches for seating, another hat-tip to the shaaps of yore. At the end of the hall is the temperature-controlled family dining area that has space for another 20 diners. The menu leans heavily towards sea-food and offers a mixed spread of dishes. The vegetarian meals are a good starting point and one can add on any of the special dishes on offer. The beef fry was the best that we had in a long time and is definitely a must-try item. The special meals with a selection of seafood dishes is also strongly recommended. The waiter was attentive and she made sure that we were well-looked after. The lack of a ramp at the entrance will limit access for some. The parking lot can hold 8 cars and is manned by a parking lot attendant. There's is a clearly marked area to park two wheelers. They also serve...

My father and I went for lunch at this place because it looked more decent than other places near the vyttila hub. But they are true that we should not have judged it by the cover. It is a place which sells disappointing food by covering it with a good decor. We ordered Kozhuva Fry, fish curry meals, porotta and beef roast. First came the Kozhuva Fry, which as soon as I touched was cold. Please note that we were here at around 1.20 which is a peak lunch time. And neither me or my father is familiar with the fishes apparently it wasn't even Kozhuva which we didn't know back then lol. And when we informed the waiter he took back the fish and brought back either the same thing or another plate from the same batch because that was cold as well. We told him it was cold AGAIN and he TOUCHED it and said no it's hot only. He asked me if I wanted something else I said no The meals veg curry was nice but the fish curry had a small disappointing fish piece. My father father ordered two porottas which he wasn't able to finish because the beef was super salty. And again when we said it to the server he asked if we want something else. We said no and returned the beef.

They just work in a luck system I guess, if it's good the customers will eat if not then we can give something else. Also it has a bit higher price for simple items like these so it should give abare minimum quality at least.

Came at the restaurant with attracted by the name to try out the seafood options available here. The restaurant ambience is more than good enough. Been to majority of the seafood restaurants in kochi and comparatively their was no crowd, despite being at the centre of vytilla junction. Supporting the reason for this was the experience we had. We as a couple ordered two items from the list, kappa biriyani and Appam and fish curry which accordingly is more than enough to serve two people for dinner. And the quantity of the food was pre enquired before ordering so that we don't waste any food if served more than wat two people can eat at a time. To our surprise they served a chatti full with fish curry that will serve atleast four people at a time. On asking why they din inform the large quality despite we being concerned about it beforehand, the reply they gave was that their usual serving quantity was that rather than trying to make it half on us probing the reason for doing so.The charge for the curry was alone 480, and no other option was left with us other than take the rest of the curry as parcel to home. Please inform your customers if the quantity they order is more or less to be eaten by the group ordering the same. Expecting this in customer service from a restaurant nothing more or less.

Fud tasted average but no complaints on the taste as they have filled our stomach for two more...

Not a good experience, 1st time visiting this shop. For 1500rs seafood platter,i feel its not worthy for that price, out of all, kakka fry was good, Crab was ok, kallummakkaya was just fine, rest all items were worst ever i had. The hamour fish which was given having an odd taste of old stock fish. Masalas were not properly in to the fish and the inside fish had raw taste. Squid was just like a boiled curry.. (had better one many times from local shop). Above all it is a common sense that people come here to try the platter for which, basically they have to provide something like rice , paratta or chapatti etc with the platter, which they dont provide along with it . Seriously?? Are you guys thinking people will just have the platter as it is??? Come on guys..apply some logic to handle your customer...for a bowl of basmati white rice they charged 70 seperately, cant imagine having the platter with out anything as a main. My suggestion would be, going to a local shop and ordeing all this item seperately would be worth and cheaper, you have the privilege to order only those you want and not forced to have all with no taste & huge price . Have seen many reviews like this , but i thought of giving a try hopping they might have improved..but no luck, so no more visit planned and not going to recommend anyone close to me 🙂. Ambience is good and staffs are well behaved though..hope they identify it and improve
