We have heard lots of negative reviews about the place from the locals but thought would give it a try anyways. The ambience set up is just great. They know how to maintain the place.. it is very welcoming and we have options wheather to dine outside or inside or even better by the little garden. I'd give 9/10. We decided to settle inside as it was a little too humid that night ... They didn't have much customers so it was very much quiet.. The place is not very hygiene but they have tried their best. I'd give 8/10. We ordered Fresh garden salad Fish BBQ Chicken Biryani Butter Chicken curry & Kerala Paratha with fresh lemon juice and lemon soda. . . A usual thing around kerala.. they name it fresh garden salad but it's just sliced cucumber, carrot, onion and tomatoes with lemon arranged in a plate...not the actual garden salad.. no particular comments on it but we found a few of the carrots were not that peeled properly... Moving on.. We were a little disappointed to know they ran out of Chicken Biryani unfortunately... so we thought of settling with the rest... The fish BBQ was just delicious and cooked rightly. We even thought of taking one as parcel. The butter chicken was not the best we have had.. but it was worth....the chicken was a little too stiff. The Kerala Paratha was crisp and not oily.. haven't had one like this for a very long time, we enjoyed every bit of it. The lemon juice and the lemon soda was well made too. Thanks to the chef.. . . The staffs are professional and friendly...was really satisfied with the customer service. . . The pricing was fair and satisfying except for the garden salad.. comparing to the other items... It was too expensive... . . But over all for South Indian dishes I'd definitely recommend this restaurant for locals and tourists... Definitely coming back for more ...

I had a terrible experience. My wife had ordered the chicken meal and the food arrived cold. By cold, I mean stone cold and flat. On informing the waiter, we were told that dishes are made only once in the morning and it’s not possible to reheat (what!) Even on escalating, the manager was indifferent. Finally they got some replacement bowls which was lukewarm. Also the pieces in the chicken curry were waste pieces that are generally discarded or turned into animal food. No meat, only bones. Now, this is the funniest. I ordered ginger lime soda and there were lumps of ground ginger and salt at the bottom, which was the only test that I got. On complaining, the waiter rolled his eyes and took it and returned five minutes later refining it. The taste was spoiled though as Ginger was twice the amount required. Lesson learnt. Avoid the tourist trap. Average cold food, smug and snarky staff and dodgy practices. You can find better alternatives around.

If you are a sea food enthusiast and you are in trivandrum , kerala, you should definitely visit taste of kerala restaurant in kovalam trivandrum. You get a wide variety of sea food delicacies and their specialty is the "samurai sadhya" where you are served in a single plate prawns fry, fish fry, fish thoran, squid masala, fish pickle, crab, anchovies fry , prawan chammanthi podi, etc...it is sufficient for 2-3 people and depends on how hungry you are!!. They also have normal veg thali meals and non-veg fish curry meals. They also serve Chinese and continental dishes, however it is best for authentic kerala style sea food preparations in fry, curry and baked in banana leaf. The waiters offer excellent service and special mention of Mr. Ashokan who offered us wonderful service. Their lunch is available from 11:30 to 3:00, however by 1:30, you will find difficuly in finding a seating space because of the huge rush of customers.

Fantastic place. No other place to eat at when you're in Kovalam, no kidding. We had one meal at our hotel restaurant, and never again. Found out this place, and went here for the next three meals, two dinners and one lunch. All great. Local cuisine, Indian, Chinese, all were fab. They're chicken Tikka is a must if you like chicken, you barely get it anywhere else around and they make it really well. Even their Kerala parotta and chicken chettinad, I had that thing twice lol. LOVEED their chocolate shake, had that twice as well. Felt so good to have it, I missed it. They have an open sea food counter at night that's an absolute treat if you like sea food. Must check out. Friendly staff as well!

Taste of kerala is very scenic and tranquil place. Their menu is one big use and throw piece of paper just rightly done to prevent infections among guests. The guy who looked after us throughout was amazing. He was smiling and had calming energy. Kadai paneer was prepared very good and in good quantity. Kerala wheat parotta, papadoms and chapapti were good in presentation and in taste as well. Our thali tasted good but I felt the rice quantity is not adequate with the curries and vegetables served on it. Items in thali were luke warm only. Upon asking they gave me extra but could be a bit warm. Rest all was very good and they had gentlesness in their behaviour.
