I found this restaurent by searching internet and decided to visit after reading many positive reviews. Some VIP guests were also with me including people from north India. Regarding the taste of food I will give 5 star. Our guests also said to the waiter that the food was excellent. Without any doubt readers you can visit this restaurent. Their barbeque chicken and Kerala fried chicken are excellent. Tomato fish is very good. We visited there around 8 PM. Car parking was also available. Quantity wise they serve enough quantity. Quality wise it is excellent. Ambiance is also good. Wash area and toilet are very small but clean. Seating is very limited I think it is less than 50. Waiting time for food is 30 to 40 minitue. But they served freshly prepared hot dishes. The behaviour and approach of the serving person was very polite. There was only moderate rush and the restaurent is not much noisy. They have a small library for the visitors. It is not much far away from Kottayam central. From out side and from inside the retaurent looks like a house, a house modified into a restaurent. Eventhough I visited this area many times I had never noticed this restaurent and that is because from outside it looks like a house. One positive side of this is it gives a homely quiet interier. Price wise it is little higher. So it may be a concern for regular restaurent visiters. But for less frequent restaurent visiters it is not a problem. My opinion is for quality and tasty food price will be little higher. So readers no need to think much..straight away you can walk to this restaurent with your guest and family...I give 5...
Read moreVery disappointed with my last visit. I know this restaurant is a tad expensive but lately restaurants are desperate for making profit and they would try all possible ways to fulfill that. This restaurant charge an unreasonable extra amount for packing (take-out)! It's not about the money but the ethics and the fairness towards the customer. Even for a small dish they charge the same and to justify that they supply a cheap looking cloth bag The food was just ok for the price I paid. I used to visit this restaurant since 2005, if I remember correctly. They used to be reasonable and no extra amount for packing was charged. I think they changed lately but not in terms of taste or dining facilities but the charges. People in Kottayam generally accept whatever restaurants charge them and I think some businesses are taking advantage of that. I eat and take-out from restaurants at Cochin every now and then and I must say I don't remember them charging for packing ever. They maintain high standard in quality and taste at reasonable price with very customer friendly approach. Here in Kottayam, customers have no voice. I know this is not going to make any changes whatsoever to this restaurant or any others. All I can do is avoiding these restaurants. I am sure NOT many people feel the same way because they are in business for a long time but I felt I had to...
Read moreThey have always been choosy with the menu and that is something I can endorse more as an adult I must confess. I truly appreciate seeing a half empty menu now when I am convinced they are putting their hearts into the other half of it. This place is famous for its versatile marketing and a very progressive ambience they have set up there from their beginning which feels like forever ago to me. Bunch of handpicked books on the shelf and a guitar on the corner in a small space with the walls holding a couple of paintings just alleviate our normal dining into something that is so "wheels" (wish I was getting greens for this, still pumped to do it anyway). Now onto the food options, the must-tries will have to be some of their 'pork dishes' or this 'schezuan beef (dry) with a bread' or this 'wheels special stuffed chicken'. Muah! Now recently on a visit, I had the Won Ton Soup which was legit the best comfort soup I have ever had. It has this magical balance of sourness and umami. Neither stands out but both completes each other (goals!!!!!). For the main course, I tried their Teriyaki chicken with Chapatis. They weren't disappointing either. It was a sweeter gravy than how I'd prefer it. Well executed though with crunchy bites of cauliflowers and a generous amount of sesame seeds thrown in making it so unique. Hands down its a place to visit if you...
