Chhota Ellaichi — Restaurant in Kolkata

21.02.2019 - After completing some important banking works we decided to go to a less crowded place to eat. I found in google map that we are closer to this place. So we took a bus and got in. This was our second time dine out. Though I already mesmerised having the special dish of this place named Yakhni Pulao before. This time I wanted her to taste that. We ordered Prawn Cocktel, Yakhni Pulao, Mutton Kasha and Caramel Custard.

Very much dsappointed this time. The urge of taking photos of dishes was gone after trying Prawn Cocktel. Steamed prawn and Lots of Mayo - Think how it was tasted! Ridiculous.

Yakhni Pulao was over fried, not tasty like before. Mutton Kasha tastes good but all the pieces are full of big bones. This was not expected at that price range.

Caramel Custard - A piece of white bread, soaked in milk with ellaichhi, cooled in freeze and served with chocolate sauce - yes, you heard it right! chocolate sauce. Should I need to tell anything else about the taste?

Instead of all this, we had a very good time together. I was in cloud nine cause My Babu was with me. We explored narrow lanes of north kolkata. We created memories there (best desert of the world from beloved ones). She is such a darling!...

I have been a resident of Girish Park all my life but still missed this place till now. But it is a place that scores high on reliability & delivering decent food at a decent price. The place is located within a 3 to 4 minutes walk from the Girish Park crossing and falls on your left if you head towards Kankurgachi.

I had ordered a Mixed Hakka Chow & a Shredded Chicken in Chilli Garlic Sauce. The chowmien was loaded with chicken, egg & prawn & tasted very good. If you are hungry much, this will make very happy. The chicken dish did not taste that good but the quantity was very generous. It was also from the special menu. My belief is that had I ordered a side dish from their regular menu, it would have been much better as the cooks are more familiar with it. The service was nice.

Chhota Ellaichi is one of those little places that might not be outright special but will save your hungry soul in times of need. Will definitely...

This restaurant gave aloo jeera which was not actually Aloo Jeera . This is a fraudulent restaurant and uses internet images to see their items . I am attaching the aloo jeera image they have put on Swiggy and the one that they sent me . I instructed them that give no spice etc . And they gave all of that and on top of that tells the customer that we can’t take specifications . Also tells customer that do what you can we will prepare like this , when I asked them that why you have used false image on your online menu . Avoid...
