A very popular 🥢 Chinese restaurant in Behala and in Kolkata too. The welcome at the entrance was very warm, loved the way they greeted us and led us to our table and also made us feel comfortable there. The no contact menu is still very much used there that's a very attractive thing as many restaurants have shifted to the old booklet menu option but they have still not forgotten about the phase we have had a few years ago. The waiters were very much polite and also waited a while patiently for us to decide the menu to order. We were very much helped by them on making decisions over the menu. We chose some starters for ourselves and when we ordered the same our waiter told it will take much longer waiting time to get the same as they would have to make it fresh from scratch and they insisted upon shifting on to something different that could be easily and quickly available. We insisted thet we could wait but the wait time wass suddenly changed from 30 mins to an hour. Hence we shifted from prawns to fish and ordered the Pan Fried Chilli Fish (Basa) for our starters, for the main course we ordered Schezwan Fried Rice Veg and Coriander Burnt Garlic Fried Rice in veg options and alongwith that Lamb in Oyster Sauce. Now the orders are at the table and we started having the same.

Pan Fried Chilli Fish (Basa) 🐟 Not at all upto the mark as was explained. The portions were very small and the fish was missing as maximum pieces only contained the batter in which the fish was dipped. The chilli could be felt but didn't like the taste much.

Schezwan Fried Rice🍚 I am not at all palatable to Schezwan heat but still tried to taste some. But to my utmost surprise the best was somewhat missing in the dish. Overall it was ok for me.

Coriander Burnt Garlic Fried Rice🍚 This was tasty and was good to have. It was perfectly complimented with the Lamb in Oyster Sauce. The only thing that disappointed me in the dish was the overpowered carrots that were put into.

Lamb in Oyster Sauce🦪🐐 This was good and complimented the rice very well. The lamb was perfectly cooked and were very soft. The oyster sauce was also very rich in taste. Loved it.

Chowman Behala outlet is right now probably the highest rated chowman outlet. And there are good reasons to it. The combination of good ambience , brilliant food , proper service and quality control makes this one of the best eateries in Behala , Kolkata. Due to the pandemic this outlet do not serve cutleries , instead they serve plastic plates and spoons for which they will charge an amount per head. We ordered the following :

Chicken Manchow soup ( 4 / 5 ) : Recommended. Pan fried Fish ( 4 / 5 ). Also recommended and please order the bhetki version . Pepper Garlic prawn ( 5 / 5 ): This dish was probably the highlight of our lunch. Huge prawn chunks were pan fried and served beautifully. Highly recommended. Mixed meifoon ( 4 / 5 ) : Typical meifoon ( rice noodles ) dish and recommended from my side. Special Chowman fried rice ( 3 / 5 ) : More like a pulao. Better to take the original fried rice. Chicken in oyster sauce ( 4 / 5 ) : Good chicken side dish to go with rice / noodles Chilli wine fish ( 4.5 / 5 ) : Loved this bhetki version. Highly recommended fish side dish with any rice / noodle.
