Extremely Disappointed – Never Returning to Chowman!

My recent visit to Chowman was nothing short of appalling. The outlet was shockingly cramped—smaller than your average momo stall—making it difficult to associate it with a reputed restaurant brand like Chowman.

Despite the space constraints, I chose to give the place a fair chance, expecting the food and service to live up to the brand’s name. Unfortunately, it only went downhill from there. The staff appeared completely untrained—our server couldn’t even answer basic questions about the menu and had to consult the cashier repeatedly. Still, I remained patient and placed the order.

What followed was an unacceptable wait of over 45 minutes, during which we were misled multiple times. After 25 minutes, we were told our food was “almost ready.” Ten minutes later, we heard the same excuse. On the third inquiry—this time with the intention to cancel—we discovered that our order hadn’t even been started. The kitchen staff had prioritized takeaways over dine-in guests, leaving us sitting in a cramped space where people, including staff, were constantly bumping into each other and our table.

Frustrated, we cancelled the order and got up to leave. I voiced my dissatisfaction to the cashier, only to be met with a casual and dismissive, “kichu korar nei” (nothing can be done), without the slightest hint of apology or concern. To make matters worse, we were still charged ₹68 for a bottle of water we barely touched—an amount I wouldn't mind under normal circumstances, but here it felt like an insult.

This level of indifference and poor service is unacceptable. It’s shocking that a brand like Chowman allows such negligence at any of its outlets. The cashier’s attitude was especially disgraceful—rude, unbothered, and entirely devoid of accountability.

Never returning, and I strongly advise others to think twice before walking into...

This comment is for the normal customers who blindly trusts Chowman based on their food and service. I was one of their regular customer before the lockdown and even sometimes in between the lockdown period by "take away". But this is really disheartening that yesterday when I ordered my regular order of 1plate lamb with assorted vegetables and 1plate chilli fish gravy ,I received the extremely bad quality of food I ever had from them before. The fish was extremely spicy that even a sip of its gravy can make you cry and the lamb and vegetables were unfresh and overcooked. I was shocked and called them, Getting my complain the manager apologised and promised me return of the fresh food in the next day by 1pm. But when I called at 2.40pm they said -" we are sending the lamb item only as the fish is the same we cook as regular" I said you can take the fish back taste by yourself and then decide to send it back. They took it and called for a review - I appreciated their lamb item this time and later called them to get the update on fish . They said it's the normal amount of spice they use , when I said are you serious they said it is a little spicy as we didn't use cornflour to it and later promised to send me back the fish item again as the fish that i have returned was almost a full box.

But , again they called me saying - sorry we can't send you the item as chef is saying it's the best he has made .

Moral - I never asked for return though I asked for quality, if they would have served it good in the first time , i would not have get harassed like this. I just wasted my time and money this time.

It was our go to chinese restaurant. we ordered through zomato. it sad 1 hr but we received our order after more than 2 hrs!! you'd think that the food that took 2 hrs to be made would be tasty, if not for he actual taste then coz we were so hungry. butno, the pad thai noodles which is known for its nutty flavour lacked the nut and the nutty flavour, which gave it a very overwhelming taste and nothing to balance the heavy texture. the american chopsuey, that was supposed to be sweet and sour was only sour. no sense of sweetness. After TWO BLOODY HOURS of WAITING when it showed only 60to 75 mins of waiting. I get it that one can have very busy nights. 2 hr waiting is not inacceptable, but if you knw that you have a very busy restaurant and cannot finish an order on time, AT LEAST MENTION IT!! It is not unheard of to mention long waiting lists with online orders. WHY WASTE EVERYONE'S TIME? MY FAMILY waited for an hr, YOU GUYS took too long without any informing of the customes, even the DELIVERY GUY waited there for MORE THAN 50 MINS!!
