With a diverse cuisine, all the states in India has tried to capture the essence of this diversity through spices from the north, coconut from the south & deliciousness of the east & west & more. Garden Cafè with it's five outlets in the City of Joy has been serving authentic South Indian delicacies since the past 50 years!
Visited the quaint outlet at Alipore recently for lunch. Had opted for some of their speciality items from their vivid menu card!
• Cheese Paper Dosa : With shredded cheese incorporated inside a scrumptious dosa and served with accompaniments (Sambar & Coconut Chutney), one can definitely not resist himself/herself from having it straightaway! Tasted delicious and the Dosa was not oily at all which I loved the most. Light on the tummy, this item is definitely an appropriate one for a quick snack!
• Cheese Pizza Dosa : Wow! I surely loved this curation. Shaped like a Pizza, this preparation looked fascinating on one hand & tasted brilliant on the other! The overloaded c comprehended the dosa perfectly!
• Orange Blossom : The beverage was a decent one. I think the taste of the drink can be improved.
• Paneer Cheese Pizza : Topped with excess cheese and paneer stuffings, the pizza bread looked heavy and filling. The taste was amazing when paired with tomato ketchup. The bread was okay-ish to be honest (not too soft nor too hard). But then overall, it is a nice preparation to go for!
• Finger Fried Idly : Deep fried to crisp, the finger fried idly was definitely a nice concept as well as a hearty snack to munch on. The best thing about it was that it was not at all oily!
• Kulfi : Tried their Sitaphal flavoured Kulfi, which was again a sheer delight. Enjoyed it thoroughly.
Overall, the experience was a good one here at the Garden Cafè which is celebrating their 50 years in the F&B industry which is certainly a respectful milestone here in the City of Joy. Service is quick. Accomodation is a problem here but the food makes it up for...
Read moreStepping into Garden Cafe feels like stepping back in time — in the best way possible. This charming outlet has been serving authentic South Indian food since 1968, and the taste remains as timeless as ever.
We tried the podi idli, vada, filter coffee, and an unexpected treat — the American float. The podi idli was perfectly spiced, with that signature crunch and flavor you rarely find anymore. The vada was crisp on the outside, soft inside, and paired beautifully with their coconut chutney and authentic sambhar with the perfect consistency. And of course, the coffee is a must have to complete the breakfast. It was rich, aromatic, and served hot, just the way it should be to get you started for the day.
Although we wen’t for breakfast, we were tempted to try the American float which was a fun twist and added a nostalgic touch to our meal. This place serves more than 100 types of dosa. It’s amazing how Garden Cafe manages to preserve its original flavors while still offering little surprises.
Highly recommended for anyone who appreciates soul-satisfying South...
Read moreThis is one amazing place to have great southern food among others. I loved everything they served. Couldn't try everything as menu is enormous and by the looks of food and enthusiasm of customers I could tell every damn item was relishing. We tried paper masala butter dosa, dosa platter which had 3 kinds of dosas, butter idli, sambhar vada, butter idlis which were out of this world, they offer one mean soda ice cream, expresso coffee. Their main motive is to cater on the go customer, take aways and deliveries, but have provided dine in facilities which isn't that good compared to other food joints but since they are serving good quality food at an apt price you won't mind the dine in discomfort. They also serve very good wheat pizza as well. Soda ice cream is a good dessert to try as well. Cheese pizza is an amazing thing to try guys, the sambhar and chutney is flavourful. Butter idly is smooth as its name. I found this place on my trip to alipore zoo... I am lucky to have found this spot. Try...
