Gujarati Basa Restaurant — Restaurant in Kolkata

Folks- I posted a bad review initially as I was hugely disappointed with the Basa owners behaviour.. But the food maniac within me kept pushing me to visit this place and atleast on one another Sunday, I went hunting this place and finally I arrived at this Gujarati Basa.

One can not locate this place as there are no signages, but it is well popular in the loactlity. The entrance is very poor and you need to amass courage to keep moving up.. This place is not usually meant for family, but if u want to experience real good food and ignore a few “entrance ambience” go for it.Invisited with my wife and daughter and they loved the food. cost of thali was Rs180 per person. Finally I did packed 12 kachoris and 1/2kg boondi as well. it’s proper address is 1,Roopchand Roy Street”

Had a good feeling about this place, from all the good reviews. And it certainly didn't disappoint.

Food was fantastic and very fresh. Kitchen is clean and the staff are all very courteous.

Though, the entry is impossible to locate without asking around. There is no signboard anywhere. Reach the location and then ask anyone to show you the entry. This restaurant is located at the 2nd floor in an old building. The approach was shabby which made us a little apprehensive about what to expect. But once we started eating, all our doubts vanished and we ended up having a great dinner.

Do give it a try if you are able to digest the tricky and unkept approach.

I love this place, I have visited multiple times with my friends. This is the only place in Kolkata where they serve PURE VEG unlimited thalis, potato is a side vegetable & not present in every vegetable. Unlike other places of Kolkata where there is either nonveg or potato.

Here, they cook with love & they serve with immense love. Unlike other places of Kolkata where the waiters are rude, where they show you eyes if you ask for a hot roti. Here, there is no waiting to get your hot rotis, daal is very homely, good quality rice. The only thing that is unclean/dangerous is the way going upto their eatery.
