Being a korean drama fan, this restaurant had always been on my list.
Location - near minto park, beside the bangladesh consulate.
Ambience - they keep korean dramas playing on their large TV and korean songs. You get a cafe vibe. Its not just a bakery.
Food- crazy menu for a korean food lover. I had taken- Eomuk guk - fish cake soup (guk= soup) Dakgalbi combo meal = korean preparation of chicken pieces with vegetables. Korean citron cold tea.
Taste - spot on.. Since there are few korean food outlets in Kolkata, and our less knowledge about the authenticity of taste, we rather fail to judge the real taste. But these foods actually took me back to those KD visuals where the family sits with food and how they eat the soup with rice. The taste was really good, dakgalbi was a spicy dish and its combination with rice was excellent and the added pickle . Fish cake soup, initially I was quite reluctant, but I was dumbfounded when it arrived. Guys you must try. There is no stink of a fish, the soup is water based , light and very tasty. For some spice you can have the fish cakes with some pickle.
Portion - 1 combo is enough for 2 with a rice add on
Recommendations - korean dishes like tteokboki and jjajanmeon, doejangjae are well known in their country and king's bakery has them in their menu. So if you wish to try out for more dishes, these ones are highly recommended.
Decor- cute, wooden chairs and tables, space is enough. You enter with a Baker, but there is ample space inside, well lit, and cute korean...

Price: The food at Kings Bakery is a bit on the expensive side, which might be a turnoff for those expecting more value for their money.
Service Time: Surprisingly, the food took 40 minutes to arrive, which is quite a long wait, especially considering the portion sizes.
Portion Sizes: The portions were unexpectedly small, leaving much to be desired in terms of quantity. For the price, the serving size felt inadequate.
Ramen: The ramen was disappointing, with a watery broth that resembled instant Maggi noodles more than authentic ramen. It lacked flavor and depth, and there were very few vegetables, which made it feel bland.
Bibimbap: The Bibimbap was another letdown. Despite being a signature Korean dish, it was tasteless and lacked the vibrant mix of flavors and textures typically expected from this dish. It didnāt deliver the rich, spicy, and savory profile that is characteristic of Bibimbap.
Choux Pastry: The only redeeming feature of the meal was the choux pastry. It was well-made and enjoyable, with a light, crispy exterior and a delicious filling, offering a bit of relief from the otherwise lackluster meal.
Overall Experience: Despite the choux pastry, the experience was underwhelming. The high prices, long wait, and lack of flavor in the dishes make it hard to recommend Kings Bakery for Korean food lovers looking for an authentic and...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThe food was fantastic - authentic korean food for a very affordable price. Each dish could be shared by two - as done by me and my bestie. We ordered coffee, red bean bun, choux at first. Then we moved on to gimbap. We got 11 pieces of gimbap in one plate. After that we ordered fried chicken with salad and jjangmyeon ( korea's go to dish ). It was served along with a kind of flavoured cucumber which they give in an unlimited quantity for free. You can also order kimchi along with all your dishes for ā¹50. We were still craving for noodles after having finished our jjangmyeon, so we got a chappaguri noodle from the Korean Mart that exists inside the restaurant. The mart hosts all kinds of korean packaged food from korean snacks to frozen korean dumplings. The restaurant staff gave us hot water and we made our own instant ramyeon ( chappaguri ). Our stomachs were totally full but we will wanted to try their cheesecake and hence we ordered one and shared amongst ourselves. Every dish was brilliant and fresh. I will be going back to their place again and again. Next time I'll be trying their kimchi jiggae and bibimbap for sure!
The only noteworthy thing to mention if you plan to visit them is that - if you are planning to get lunch then do visit them after 1:30 PM as before that you will be served coffee...
