Mandarin Gourmet — Restaurant in Kolkata

Went there on 1st Jan and got table very easily. Surprisingly they have huge space and ample sitting. So on any occasion if you aren't getting table anywhere you can give them a try. Ambiance was okay, service was bit too slow.

Starters Prawn Waffers @ Rs.200 (3/5) CGP Chicken @ Rs.400 (2.5/5) Cgp was just basic fried chicken tossed with green chilli, onion and capsicum. No special spices, no sauce, nothing special, don't order it. Thank god we had Prawn Crackers to compliment.

Mains Hot Garlic Chicken @ Rs.400 (4/5) Chicken Hakka Noodles @ Rs.230 (3/5) Chicken Cantonese Noodles @ Rs.300 (4/5) Chicken Cantonese was showstopper and different than usual gravy noodles at other places. Noodles in semi gravy, ample veggies carrot, capsicum and onion, lots of chicken chunks and it tasted delicious. Hakka noodles were also quite good.

Hot Garlic Chicken was served 20 pcs in full portion and it tasted quite good too. Portion per dish was really good.

Conclusion Food quality is good but not excellent, service is bit slow, ambiance is okay, ample tables available, pricing is mediocre, overall deserves a visit. Beer prices are...

Family friendly restaurant. Quality of food was good. The place was pretty empty. There were a total 3 parties, including us.

We ordered the following:: Starters Panko fish Chilly garlic pepper chicken Main Veg mee foon(rice noodles) Mix Singapore noodles Chiang main chicken (side)

The quality and quantity was enough for 2 servings. Foods were quite inexpensive and very tasty, with the exception of the Singapore noodles, which tasted a bit bland.

Since the restaurant is located a bit towards the interior of the lane, it goes unnoticed. Give it a try and be prepared to be pleasantly surprised.

খেয়াল, শুধু খেয়ালেই কিছু জিনিস সময়ের খেয়ালে হারিয়ে যায়।

কোলকাতায় দ্বিতীয় চায়না টাউনের মানে আমাদের প্রিয় ট্যাংড়ার অলিতে গলিতে একসময় প্রচুর চীনে ইটিং হাউসের আস্তানা ছিল। হ্যাঁ ইটিং হাউস, সৌখিন রেস্টুরেন্ট নয়। তবে এখন তার অর্ধেক হয়ে গেলেও এখনো সংখ্যায় কম নয়। নামি নামের পাশে ওরা টিমটিম করে টিকে আছে।

সেরকমই এক অপরিচিত নাম 'Mandarin Gourmet', জনপ্রিয় 'Golden Joy'-এর থেকে ঢিল ছোড়া দূরত্বে। আমরা নতুন কিছু খুঁজবো ভেবেই গেছিলাম শনিবারের দুপুরে। কিন্তু ঢুকে বমকে গেলাম।

গোল্ডেন জয়ের ভিড়ের পাশে এটা একদম ফাঁকা হু হু করছে। খুবই দ্বিধাবোধ নিয়ে অর্ডার করলাম tangy chicken, panko fish, chicken fried rice, chili chicken।

একটু সময় নিয়ে ভালো করে বানিয়ে দিলেন, ভিড় না থাকলেও কর্মচারীদের হাস্য মুখ বেশ ভালো লাগে। ওনারা খাবার সম্বন্ধে ওয়াকিবহাল কোন পদ কেমন খেতে বা আপনি ঠিক কেমন খেতে চাইছেন। আমি ফাঁকা কেন জানতে চাইলে, নিজেই বললেন, আগে ছিল না স্যার, করোনা পুরো বসিয়ে দিল। আর কেউ খুব আসছে না কেন জানিনা।

খাবারের স্বাদ ভালো, তবে আমি কোনো জায়গায় খেতে গেলে একটু মেনু কার্ড নিয়ে নেড়ে ঘেঁটে ভালো পদ বেছে রাখি, তবে এখানে একদমই হুট করে চলে আসায় সেই সুযোগ হয়নি। তাই ওনাদের বিশেষ পদ গুলো এবারে চেখে দেখতে পারিনি। খুবই সেফ খেলে এগুলোই খেলাম।

খাবারের স্বাদ ভালো, একটু নুন কম দিয়ে বানায়। তবে panko ফ্রাই ফিস বেশ ভালো খেতে, হ্যাঁ বাসা মাছ হলেও মারিনেশনের একটু স্বাদ আছে। এছাড়াও tangy চিকেন টক মিষ্টি তবে একটু ঝাঁঝ হলে ভালো লাগতো।

তাহলে শেষে কি দাঁড়ালো!! খুব দুর্দান্ত ভালো আমি খাইনি। তবে ভালো খেয়েছি টাকা নষ্ট হয়নি।

আবার যাবো? হ্যাঁ অবশ্যই, তবে গোল্ডেন জয়ে জায়গা না পেলে যাবো সেটা নয়। ওদিকে আসলে এরকম ভাবেই আরো কিছু খোঁজ করতে অবশ্যই আসবো।
