I have been a regular visitor to this place since 2018 but on my most recent visit for lunch on May 11th, I had a terrible experience and would never visit them again. I am sharing the entire experience here for the management to read what many customers like me had to face - 5 star for food but 0 star for Service. We had booked a table and got in time to grab our seat but had to wait for 20 mins - finally when we grabbed, two of us were a little late and for the purpose, the team were questioning us repeatedly on when would the rest arrive. It seems to us that it might be for them to start the service, which later I realized was not true. They wanted to accommodate more and more guests, when our extended family members arrived, they insisted if we could change our seat to a narrow 4 seater so that they could add more chairs to the round table. The worst came in while, I was having the dessert - the attending managers comes in checking for quality updates and grabs the bill. Before I could complete my icecream, he grabbed the POS and I paid happily. Post his my family members, who were ladies, had to use the washroom. There was a long queue in their single available unisex washroom and that led to us sitting at the table and talking, when the manager intruded twicw and asks us to vacate the table immediately, for the first time, I had politely mentioned that I am waiting for her to return but after 2 mins, he comes charging at me again stating that this is their business time and we are just occupying their seats. I challenged him stating, there are many empty tables then the hurry? He replied that people are waiting for long and we are just holding the table - I said had I had not paid the bill, you wouldn't have done that, right? You got your money and that's why you're now least bothered about the customer experience hereafter. P. S. - We didn't just have a small meal, we had 4 buffet meals with add on alacarte,...
Read moreThey are not Taj Sonargaon! They are not even 6 ballygunje place! Both these prestigious restaurants are not listed on zomato or any other dining apps so whenever I visit I pay through card. But this restaurant is clearly listed on these apps but their manager very audaciously said that they will not accept payment through any third party apps! This was after the waiter had explained that thali needs to be paid separately n the rest could be paid online through zomato n I was following his instructions n agreed to do the same. Yet this bald headed manager or chief wearing specs n having a moustache stormed into the scene unnecessarily to display this pathetic behaviour...he is clearly tarnishing the reputation of oh calcutta by acting so cheap towards the customer...they were literally panicking that the entire payment would be made through zomato inspite of me saying that I will make the thali payment seperate through card. WHY LIST YOUR RESTAURANT ON ZOMATO IF YOU WANT TO COMPLETELY AVOID PAYMENT THROUGH ZOMATO?? This is a much HYPED restaurant inside a mall n they are just living on hype...their much famed boneless bhapa ilish didn't live up to expectation as far as taste is concerned..upon enquiry they said the taste is balanced for non bengalis....so its definitely not authentic bengali flavours! Despite the only thing that was good that is ambiance was disappointed to spot a fly...yes one fly but even thar is not expected from a restaurants which has high claims....it surely lacks in class...their polite behaviour can quickly change to rude n polite again begging you to come back again....but I think there are much better places so will have give this place a miss for a long time unless things change for the better. Hopefully the higher authorities in management will look into it to bring...
Read moreSo my visit to Oh! Calcutta was just worth it. Having taken a day off from my job was really fruitful. My friends and I visited Oh! Calcutta for lunch and opted for Al a Carte. For starters, we tried Posto Narkol Tikki, Fulkopi Aam Kashondi Paturi and Fish Roll. My favourite among them would surely be the paturi. This is really hard to conceive how a vegetarian item with such simple items could taste so wonderful. This is a fairly simple dish but the taste is something which keeps you glued to this place. I'd choose this dish over our regular Ilish Paturi, anyday. Coming to the Fish Roll, it was very tasty as well. The crunchy crust and the core made of fish and shrimp paste, coupled with mustard sauce...that's what I call, my kinda starter. I'm not a fish guy but then, this fried roll was not our ordinary roll. This was indeed special. The Posto Narkol Tikki was amazing as well. I really wonder how the chef manages to bring out the flavours so well out of these common day to day items. For main course, we loved to go, the Bengali traditional way. We loved to have Steamed Rice, Daal and Gota Masalar Lal Murgi. Now, talking of bhaat and daal with some aalu bhaja, we all know that it is incomparable. That is always a bliss. But this was the first time that I had tried the Gota Masalar Lal Murgi. What we generally have it herbs and spices that are all finely ground and added to the food to infuse the flavors. Here, the whole spices were out into the food and was cooked over a slow flame to infuse the flavours. That's a really unique creation and I loved it. For desserts, we had Gulab Jamun and Butterscotch Ice Cream. I have been to the other branch at Forum Mall but I do feel that the ambience and the food is much better here. Thank you Oh! Calcutta for extending an...
