The Dugout - SOUTHERN AVENUE — Restaurant in Kolkata

I have been always a fan of the dugout, so recently I went to the Southern Avenue Branch and It is gonna leave you spellbound with its interiors and most importantly its non-veg food.

So finally you can enjoy sports screening and non-veg food with your friends.

There are two section, one with a huge screening area where you can chill with your friends and there is a private seating area perfect for your own celebration.

Now let's get down to the business:

Zeera Cola was really nice and refreshing, loved its taste.

Guava Merry: Loved the kick of guava and spicy flavour

Recommended:

I really loved the starters which were served.

• Crispy Chilli Babycorn - Loved the taste and balanced crispness.

• Chicken Exotic Wrap - This dish was my fav starter. The wrap was really tasty and perfect flavours, the chicken was soft and tasty.

• Chicken Tetrazzini - Baked cheese flavours with chicken was really mouth watering. I loved it.

Mains Course:

Chicken Spaghetti Aglio Olio

Egg Fried Rice

Mix Fried Rice

Hot Garlic Fish

Chilli Chicken

Cheese Lemon Chicken

Recommended:

• Chicken Spaghetti Aglio Olio- I really liked the spaghetti

• Chilli Chicken - Well balanced flavours and the chicken was well marinated, very soft and Tasty.

• Cheese Lemon Chicken - One of best main course, a perfect dish. Highly recommended.

Rice had good flavours. Good quantity.

Peanut Chocolate

Pure Chocolate

• Pure Chocolate - If you are a fan of pure chocolate then go for it, the chocolate will give you a mouthfeel of sheer chocolate.

• Peanut Chocolate - This is the best dish or thing I had at the dugout, Very delicious, usage of peanut butter and Ferrero Rocher crust is just mind-blowing and lip-smacking. Highly Recommended.

Recently I had a not so pleasant experience with the staff & management of Dugout, Southern Avenue. I had booked the floor area for my husband's birthday celebrations. While taking the advance the manager Akash had promised to keep the entire floor area reserved for us except the VIP area on the left . But on the evening of our event we found outsiders already seated in one of the tables  supposed to be reserved for us. We contacted the owner who requested us to spare one table so that they can earn some extra revenue. But when our guests started coming in, we were surprised to see that the staff had removed the 'reserved' board from yet another table on extreme right & got other customers seated there.This caused extreme embarassment for us since at one point we couldn't manage seats for some of our guests. The manager Akash bluntly denied booking of those tables, even though they themselves had put the 'reserved' board there for us earlier. I found this attitude highly unprofessional & unacceptable. Moreover they were supposed to serve starters and mocktails on table which they refused to do. Guests had to help themselves at the counter where refill was delayed often. Even for the mocktails they were serving less than  1/4th of a glass which really looked indecent. We had ordered 2 varieties of mocktails which they reduced to only 1 & that too in minimum quantity. All these things were being done after charging a good amount per guest. Quality of food was good but quantity was compromised & service was horrible. They had provided a good DJ but the volume was too loud.The decoration guy provided by them had overcharged us but did a fairly decent job. Overall I would give a below average rating to this place as far as party booking is concerned. If you are looking for a casual dine out destination then it's a good choice. But I definitely would not recommend this place for party bookings due to the extremely unreliable behaviour...

Dugout, as the name suggests it's a sports themed restaurant; Best known for its fantastic ambience!!!!! It was my first visit to this place with some of my friends on the day of soshti, 18 for lunch and I was literally amazed with the place. This is a real hidden gem on such a location.

Located near lake kali bari/asia house/ kalighat metro station towards golpark.

As we entered there, it seemed like a beautifully decorated restaurant with hexagonal ceilings, was dark inside with very dimly lit seating area and has comfortable seats with round tables, changing neon lights, loud musics, songs being played on large LCD screens and LED TVs !!!!!! Everything was so perfect and charming at first sight.

Now, before coming to the food it's important to mention that we were given a Puja,18 special menu and ● We ordered- ✔Chilli garlic fried rice ✔Schezwan noodles ✔Crispy Basa fish in chilly basil sauce (6pc) ✔Schezwan Chicken (9 pc) ✔Hot garlic chicken (9pc) and ✔hookah (its deli shas)

💡Pros- Foods were lip smackingly tasty . Quality of the food was also top notch. Awesome ambience. Lovely neon lighting is extremely impressive. Hookah at really reasonable price. Staffs were professional and courteous, also they are well aware of the menu, Which I counted as a plus point. Service was promt. Value for money.

⚠️But the only major con I found of this place is that, THEY DON'T SERVE WATER with food !!! EVEN THEY CHARGE 30 INR for a bottle of 500ml mineral water (Though it was written on the menu mineral water on MRP). 😑 ⚠️One more minor issue was with the quantity of the rice and noodles. We asked them n they they claimed the items to be sufficient for two but we found it insufficient for two. So we had to repeat our orders!

Overall, It was a nice experience with the friends, some fantastic food and super awesome ambience. Pocket pinch approx 2300 INR for 5!
